Im starting to get the hang of the drifting. I find the bonnet view is the best, as you can see the clipping points the best
My best so far is only 400k, have you removed all driver aids?

Been having a bit more of a play, there just seems to be no real idea of grip, even the touring car races just have no feeling of grip. Feels 'wooly' if you get my meaning. Also, the scoring is pretty weird in the drifting. I managed 500k in a series of about 4 corners, very NSFU like - and it still counts your score if you spin at the end of a corner. They also seem to have overdone the sensation of speed. The loose view also got on my tits. I really don't like it.

On the plus side - it looks pretty, the damage model seems quite good, and the attention to detail is nice. Its probably the best looking driving game on a console right now. The colours and depth are just great. The smoke is also nice, it lingers well and looks quite realistic.

To get hign scores you have to get good combos, ie link the drifts.

The only negative thing I can think of at the mo, the car seems VERY fast! I know its highly tuned but you hit 60 in no time at all!

What a pile of utter SHITE.

It looks lovely yes.
Crash damage - spot on.
Smoke - nice.
Noise - meeeh its OK I guess. Dump valve sounds keep the chavs happy.
Scoring system - quite nice but doesn't count ALOT of drifts, especially if you drift at a shallow angle to gain speed.
Physics - ABSOLUTE CRAP. AWFUL. TERRIBLE.

The car acts NOTHING like a real car does when drifting. You get no sense of what the front wheels are doing, your just sliding all the time. 6th gear wheelspin? Yep, apparently that happens alot when drifting. I want to know what turbo the car in the demo is running, no lag and instant wheelspin in ANY gear.

Hugely disappointed as this had potential - why didn't they ask someone who drifts to test this game? The physics are so far off

Summed up my feelings too Jord. Such a shame, liceneced teams, replica cars, amazing visuals - but drives like shit. I understand that they have to make things accessible for the masses but come on - theres not a drop of realism at all.

Yeh, but they're hardly going to rewrite it because a few hardcore real life drifters dont think its realistic enough. Plus, by unfinished they simply mean that there are a couple of non-showstopper bugs that they have to iron out.

Like the fact that the back end of the car disappears through walls on replays for starters.

I've played a bit more on all modes and sadly the drifting is the best for playablility, the race modes are pants and the handling is all off again. Even Forza physics would have been good on this game, the physics they are using are REALLY pap.

I tried it last night. It's really just Dirt with different cars and tracks. But not as good.
Looks pretty, but quite dissapointing overall.

I couldn't get on with the grip driving at all, very all over the place

Drifting is ok for a laugh but a bit unrealistic the way the car steps out so easy in any gear

Also agree with Jord where you miss out on a lot of scoring for some drifts

I do like the stupidly long wand entries you can pull off though

Thought the physics were utterly random grip and drift were both all over the shop. Drifting was a bit like how the cars corner in GTA4 - nothing or totally broadside and then spin out.

Utter toss IMHO, Forza is leauges ahead.

Basically just another type of Need for Speed and equally just as random and shit.

I think if your totally broadside and then spinning you need to give it a little more time. I only DL'd it today and spent about an hour or so on it to score just under 2mill on the drift track and I am not a gamer at all.
Imo its not particularly realistic to drive but it does look like realistic drifting better than anything I have tried so far. I love the backwards entry on the wand facility lol.

Imho its the best drifting in an Arcadey game I have tried, only bettered by Forza or possibily GT5 (although I am still struggling to get good at drifting on that a month in) but they are much more simulator style games.

Even GT5 prologue is shit for drifting.

This GRID game did look stunning, i was looking forward to it but i guess i wont be buying until years later when its going for a fiver!

The best drift game for physics alone will always be enthusia on the ps2, physics are absolutely spot on, so its bloody hard, but very rewarding when you get it right, which i love

The only positive I see in this game : it's actually possible to spin out, also crashing is fun. Physics are weird. Car is basically swimming on road.

Finally someone who appreciates Enthusia too! The game indeed is spot on. I wish I haven't sold ps2. I wonder how Enthusia would be now with Logi G25..

I'm really enjoying the demo! It's fun! Decent looks and arcade handling, if it was like Forza it would spoil it. I love how you can just throw the car. 2.4 million is my best score so far.

Also, Enthusia was very underrated. Everything about it was spot on. My favorite part was how you had to race perfectly as one crash cost a fortune, probably the only racing game every where I cared about hitting the wall.
