BDC Llandow in car vid

A couple of my runs here from my in car camera. Quite happy with how it came out considering the simplicity of the mount I made.

Now, if only I could do runs like that in qualifying...

8mb decent quality: http://andy.touringnet.co.uk/llandowincar.wmv

Shitty youtube:

Nice entry on the 2nd one, first one was a bit weak.

A bit of constructive criticism... You appear to be too on/off , and too mashy and coarse with the car. Best example is that when you've taken the first right hander, into the 2nd one, you wind on ASS loads of angle but it takes you away from the apex of the left hander and slows your car down. When you then try to take the left hander you're having to come off the throttle then nail it again into the final right hander which you also ease off on due to taking the wrong line (this is something you've caused earlier in the track).

When I was taking the 2nd right hander, I was concentrating and aiming for the next left hander straight away, so my car was aiming at the apex before I got to it so I could hug close-ish to the left hand side of the track for the transition into the last right. By this time my wheels were at the clipping point (on the outside, remember) and I was nudging full lock in 3rd flat out (I was in 3rd anyway but you get the idea of speed), only very slightly lifting sometimes to get round the apex then letting the back end run over the kerb on the outside up towards the finish line.

Not trying to shit on you but hopefully you can interpret what I am saying and see if it makes sense to you. I think I would have gotten round that course a good few seconds faster than you so there is plenty you can work on for next time or for round 3

Nice footage anyway what camera did you use?

Thanks for the tips, you were by far the fastest person through the last corner I saw all day, gaining up to 3 car lengths there in the twin. Will take it on board for next time, cheers. I'm still learning a hell of a lot each time I drive the car.

It is actually a proper Sony fullsize camcorder - the vid-cap card I use is shit though so the quality always comes out bad when I upload it. Its amazing to watch on a full size telly though.

Clearly we won't have any in-car footage as we never put a camera in any cars

I'll try and refine my mount a bit then maybe I could stick it in some of the pro cars for the finals next time, that would be sweet.

Cheers Andy, I had to gain those car lengths as everyone out-dragged me on the first straight due to my lack of 2nd gear lol. I'd love to have some in-car footage of mine next round. I got some on-car footage but not seen it come out yet. TBH I didn't recognise anyone's face so I don't even know who put cameras on my car lol.

I'm the fat bloke that stuck a cam on your car Mike

Unfortunately, the battery thing we strapped into your car ran out of power very shortly into your runs - I think we might have one, but most of it was you sitting there waiting to go

Next time I'll bring a proper power pack.

We need more posts like that

I was sitting next to Keiran and he was pointing out similar stuff to me, lines, where folk were applying the manfoot etc and its definitely something to think about

Having actually driven at Llandow unlike most other tracks, I thought I should just offer a bit of help from a drifting line point of view more than anything as Chunk said I was one of the few people who actually "got it" at the weekend.
