Well the beginning of the season is here again, anybody have any hopes / dreams / aims for this season ?

I'm hoping to try get panning down a bit more, a few sequence shots and some action ones, as in not removing eye from viewfinder during runs.

Same,Ive to learn my new toy aswell, but I will say Ross, your the most consistent 'central' framer Ive seen so far,ie the subject is in the middle of the frame in every shot, not an easy thing to do

Hi there folks, got myself a new lens for my Fuji S5100 and used it for the first time today
thing is when i zoomed in to full(or very close to full) zoom the pics became completly shite and blurry no matter what shutter and aparture settings i used
i was resting it on a fence for a bit aswell so it cant be anything to do with movement
so do you know what the problem is??? cos ive run out of ideas

Sorry Ross i didnt bother keeping them because i needed the space on the memory card
but they looked like the pics you get if the camera cant focus at all, dont know if thatll help you at all

EDIT- Hmmmm just tried to take a photo to show you but it came out perfect
but what i said above is still what i got yesterday
and also it says its a 2x telephoto lens but it really didnt seem like it was zooming in 20x, is there something wrong with it or is it meant to do that and im just being a retard??

hmm its kinda hard to say not knowing the camera very well, but it could have been a glitch between camera and body making the auto focus a bit freaky. i had a similar problem on saturday where the camera would resort back to a default setting when the contact between the lens and body was bad it also disabled the auto focus.

just make sure the contacts between lens and body are clean and theres no movement between lens and body, if the prob still comes back at least it iliminates one posibliblity of what could be going wrong.

Just a quick question, as a general rule when you take photos of fast moving objects do you zoom in as close as you can to the object and fill the view or is it better to include alot of scenery around and then you crop later on?

e.g. this picture taken by paddy:

Was there alot of cropping?

speaking personaly i prefer to zoom in as close as i can to the subject, i pick a part of the car ie, door handle/repeter light/ bonnet badge and try to keep it in the center spot of the view finder wilst panning bit of a bugger when the car is coming straight towards you cause you have to constantly ajust the zoom but it works for me.

There was an awful lot of cropping in that shot ...

My technique would be the same as Ross pick a comfortable shutter speed and pick something to focus on, usually the nearside headlight ...

I'm on the lookout for some extra batteries for my sony H2 to take to silverstone on sunday, my spares at the mo are 1 set each of uniross 2000mah / 2100mah and 1 set of original sony 2500's,

I've just seen these on 7dayshop:
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...ucts_id=100920
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...ucts_id=100921

Seeing as there non-branded would I be better sticking to a better brand and less mah's or the other way around?

Oh and any tips on settings I should be using as I haven't had much chance to use the camera yet and don't want all my photo's to look $hite

Cheers Si

my experence with aftermarket batterys has been hit and miss, some are great (even better than the nikon oe stuff some times) some are just shite so you pays ya money you takes ya bets, even if they are shite and cheep enough they can still get you out of a tight spot though.

as for silverstone tips 300mm of zoom is normaly enough to get away with most things either from the infield or the stands, the outside of luffield is always a good bet so you can get the entry to brooklins and the transition to luffield 1, folowing out with a nice smokey rear shot as they exit luffield.
