Something about turning off the VCD (or whatever the computer controlled traction is called) voids the warranty, sounds gays..

Good video, the subtitles nicely match the background images.

The GT-R has been a controversial car since its debut. Upon delivery of the car you have to sign a paper that you agree NOT to use turn the VDC off and, as a consequence, not to use launch control (VDC needs to be switched off for this) because if you do, your warranty will be voided. The car's advertised performance (3,3 seconds to 100km/h) was timed WITH the launch control system on, so basically if you want your car to run this quickly your warranty will be voided. The infamous "black box" device doesn't make things any easier, because it actually remembers when the VDC was switched off, so if your gearbox blows and the Nissan technicians will discover this (they check it every time they take the car in for service), your gearbox replacement won't be covered by Nissan.

I don't really understand Nissan. Not only was their time at the Nurburgring made with a MODIFIED car (this was verified by the Nurburgring hotel owner, who came to see the car when it did a lap in 7:29, and he stated that it had semi-slick tyres, a rollcage and an aftermarket exhaust, the real time given by Horst von Saurma for Sport Auto was a steady 7:50), but they also released a car that shatters the cheese Borg Warner GR6 gearbox if you drive it to its limits only a few times. It's still a bargain for a car of this caliber (it's only slightly slower than a 997 Turbo), and I just don't get it why Nissan made such silly mistakes while designing and advertising the car...

I lol'd!

What hitler needs is an RB26DETT with an R33 GTST box conversion. Piss off all the appeal-to-IT-Geeks gadget bollocks and do some real driving.

Although as a facist right wing dictator I have a feeling he would have bought a porsche or a BMW, or the Audi R8, but I guess Japan were part of the Axis...

...Probably the porsche though as its the closest thing to the beetle. Although if he wanted I could build him an SR20'd Kubelwagen.

It wasn't modified. Not at least when I was there to see it.

All industry pool cars have a roll cage, be it a Mercedes B Class, or a Audi R8 (which as we all know famously melted away leaving just said cage).

The exhaust systems are almost constantly changed or not finished or whatever, but I can't comment as I didn't notice it to be honest!

Saurma didn't do many laps in the GT-R at all, and most of the times from Mags are a little slower for the same reason; Nissan's 'Ring Specialist had done hundreds of laps in the GT-R, if not thousands, and from the video was clearly absolutely on the limit with both lines ands balls to the wall speed.

I independently timed the V-Spec going round early last year with a stop watch and found it was lapping in 7:40, and it wasn't even finished, or really giving it the berries!
It's a bloody fast car, and all independant tests in the UK (DR has plenty of video evidence) of the GT-R being a faster car than the 911's (as an example benchmark).

Haha, I seem to remember Audi having a clause like that when the 3.2TT first came out with the DSG box, you were only allowed to use the launch control 3 times or something till it voided the warranty on the box
