new member - new car searching is so frustrating - somerset

Whats everyones thoughts about decent sporty cars nowa days? Got a couple in mind for example:

Honda civic type s (type r's are cool but insurance wise...meeeh ;] give it a year or three ha ha)

    Honda civic

    Lexus is200

    Subaru Impreza bug eye

I know nissans are always a good shout BUT my parents used to own a 180sx/200sx and tbh I heard the mpg is a lil bit shite lol. Got a vague idea of what I am after but wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem! I have a old facelift model ford focus silver edition, and gonna be honest its never let me down and it has low milage (bought at 40k now on 52k) but im ready to move on the the next two months gotta look for something good (while im young and all that! :P).

Also anyone around here from somerset area blah blah and good car garages recommended? Only moved here like 2 months ago still looking round for decent garages! Thanks!

    Welcome.

As with anything, if you want a sports car e.g. 200sx then just buy it, look after it and enjoy the thing.. just be prepared that its going to cost much more than a focus.

If you want something to excite your wallet stick with the focus or something diesel. If on the other hand you dont mind getting your hands dirty and taking your car apart, get a 200. As you'll have many awesome times in it, it just requires attention and money thrown at it to get excitement.

    Like a gold-digging girlfriend, really.

type S will just just dissapoint you that you didnt buy a type R every time you use it.
IS200 are far from fuel effiecient

Just buy what you want mate, if your young and struggling with insurance then your choice of "sporty" car is going to be limited from the get go. I'm pretty biased, but I love my little MX5. Not enough power to do any serious damage to your driving lisence but fun and sporty!
    MPG still isnt GREAT mind..

I may settle for the lexus as its a bit of rear wheel fun and the mpg isn't as bad as some i've seen! does anyone rate bmw's as a option?

    How old are you?

Don't look for sports cars if you are concerned by mpg figures.

buy a opel (vauxhal) astra 1.7 diesel 4door out of 2002 , lower it on stiffer springs ( handling is more or les described as boaty ), afermarket air filter , afrermarket exaust , sligtly bigger turbo (or big gareth one if you like swapping fuel pumps) , remap that wil see about 210 hp and 350 nm
