hey dude, sounds like your on the right line with the mx5, Ive had mine a few months now, and for the price and fun, nothing can match.

If your looking to skid, there's not much you need to do to get them sideways, a welded diff, cheep set of bucket seats and 3-4 points, steering wheel always helps, and if you want a cheep set of coilies, This is the spec Ive gone on mine, its cost me about a grand including buying the car so far
Mx5 + boost = only way to get sideways?

F**K OFF you dont need more power to drift a mx5

Welders suck dick compared to a good diff, what nobody seems to tell new people is MOST LSDs are fucking shite, and they'd need to get a good (ie 'spensive) one for it to be much good, wheras a welder costs cock all.

    To clarify-
Welders are fine if you dont care about a bit of shuddering when turning at sub-10mph, you wont feel them otherwise.
Stock LSDs are big piles of shit but they make no noises etc on the road.
Most good aftermarket plated LSDs are just as clonky and shuddery at low speed as a welder anyhow and cost shitloads.

A middleground on an MX5 is probably a torsen, it's not as good as a welder or plated diff, but its a lot better than a stock viscous one.
