Hi everybody!

I'm Jason, a apprentice mechanic. Always been into VW's (2 mk1 golf's), and picked up a cheapo BMW e28 525i, for drift fun. Hoping to get round to a few drift days this year.

Hope to see you soon

LOL, I didnt think you knew who I was

The S13 is in for the shock of its life. It thinks its got it good as its just had loads of parts thrown at it and its about to get body parts and a complete respray but then...oh yeah....then its in for a serious amount of huge abuse this year!

Its booked in on the 22nd (drift), 29th (track) and 12th of Feb (track) so far. Its going to earn the money thats been spent on it

if you've tuned it to full drift spec i'd hold back on the respray, you could probally do with some "practice"

and i mean drift, not track use. what kind of set-up are you going to run for drift and track?

The cars got roll bars, front and rear strut braces, poly bushes and will soon have adjustable rear toe arms, upper arms, traction arms and tc arms. Its also got coilovers and I have a selection of spring rates to work with.

Itll be getting a 1.5way diff soon as, from what I gather, this diff should be fine for both track and drift use.

The engines ott for drift from what Im told, too much power and too big a turbo for a newby so it might get detuned with a GT28RS.

The cars got Sparco Monaco seats but Im not happy with their position so have an Evo 2 landing today to see if its sits lower (on Bride sidemounts).

I dont see any reason why the car cant work well for both drift and track. We have camber gauges so can adjusta and re-adjust the settings for drift, road and track and the rest of the spec should work well in btoh areans shouldnt it?

Or am I missing something?

The cars solid but needs some tlc for the body work. I thought Id get it done at the begninning of the year and then just let it get battered through to seasn and repaint it next year But then although I have the front bumper, wider front wings and skirts I dont have anything for the rear bumper so its going to have to wait anyway.

Should be good for both with minimal changes in settings, but after you've been drifting you might not want to bother going in a straight line again
It's just too tempting when you get on track not to get a bit of crafty drift practise in
