    I remember when...

A thread for the old timers perhaps?. Rules are: Stavros isn't allowed to 'remember when driftworks wasn't "insert something negative" '

Mine, and it's not actually going back that far:

I remember when we used to buy R154 gearboxes at £70 - £140 a pop and have too many available to be bothered to go and collect them.. Oh and when I used to laugh at how expensive V160's were at £900.. Oh and remaining on the JZ vibe, Perfect condition 1JZ's with complete ancileries & turbo's at £150 a throw were the reason we decided to convert the DWR32 to JZ. Man if only I knew then how ridiculously fucked up the prices people are asking (and getting) for these things now, I would have traveled the length of the country every week creating the worlds biggest stockpile of Toyota shite .

That makes me sick considering the money I am throwing out to stick a 1JZ into my S15.

However on the plus side, I remember when owning an S15 was just a childhood dream due to price/insurance/import work - Now with the messed up economy the South of Ireland is practically giving them away and I laid my hands on one for £2100.

I noticed this a while back but with 25 boxes.

Latest shocker as I've been looking again is the lack of 13 chassis readily available. Fuck all on eBay now, 8+ years ago when I got mine there were shit loads about. Rotting all the same but available lol.

My record bargain was a slightly crash damaged previously mint manual S14a with 22k on the clock for £320. I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen any more, or maybe it's because I'm not looking for spares for my own car any more?

I remember when anything S15 shaped was over 10 grand.

I also remember when Bladey used to drift, now we're going back some years.

I remember when drifting used to be fun! When a day out used to only cost £150, when there was no politics, when there was no bitching, scammers and fucking retards!

I remember when 400hp was lots of power and tein rods and spacers with chopped down bump stops used to be mega lock!

I remember when bizzle and Mitto used to actully skid!

I remember the days when Paz used to fucking rock behind the wheel!

DRIFTING is pushin a car against its intended design, then playing with the LAWS OF PHYSICS

I remember going to a distribution warehouse forecourt in Birmingham, paying the security guards a tenner, and drifting for several hours around the trailers parked in the middle :-D

I also remember the jump from 'Eurodrift Amateur' in 07 to 'BDC Pro' in 08 and thinking how I'd never be competitive at that level. Since then shit has just gone batshit fucking crazy and I'm wondering if even the ODC is a bit much for me, lol

You've only got to look back at old threads from 4-5 years ago to see a vast difference in the amount of general respect shown to others, when ego's and self inflated opinions didn't play such a substantial part of day to day DW forum....

I remember when I thought the cars that looked like they had crashed into a halfords accessories isle in max power were thoroughbred race machines.

    Haha, I remember that.

On that note, I bought a T+T S13, with coilovers, a welded diff, and a few other bits for £600 back then.

Fuck, Volvo 340s and 360s have rocked up in price, I bought my first one, again long T+T, for £50!

Other things are waaaaay cheaper, though, so its swings n roundabouts.
