Insurers are fucking wankers. Officially required insurance only covers damage you did to property/people, plus the bumfuck said people and property with an awesome payouts - you know the cost of some '07 Corsa rear bumper plus installing plus paint etc? Insurance companies do! 39 quid. I'm not shitting you, that's an official payout. 39 quid. They are sure that you can buy a bumper, paint it and fit it for 39 quid. Plus, maximal amount is 2100 quid. So when someone totals your new Citroen or some other shit, you'll get paid 2100. OR. They can total your Citroen AND a someones' new BMW, you'll get 900 and BMW dude will get 1200, but no more!

The thing is you can insure and drive a fucking Veyron at 18 like that (anything 200bhp+) for 300 quid. Of course there is a proper insurance (not obligatory!) that covers every your dent and scratch, but no one getting it, because it's expensive (equals GB insurance prices actually). So every poor cunt gets an uber cheap insurance, crash his 200 quid LADA into someone, then insurance tell everyone to fuck themselves.

The problem is insurance is that cheap (yeah, there is a bonus for NCB, they will knock 50% of your insurance. In other words, 50 quid of your 100 quid insurance, yay, whole life of perfect driving was worth it!), that every fuckwit can get away with this kind of thing (i.e. crashing his shitter badly into someone).

Fuel is cheap compared to Europe/USA, you can "buy" a driving licence without leaving your home. You can buy MOT exactly like that.

ElToro don't think bad regarding how the insurance works. It's awesome I would say. In England there is scam called 3rd party. This insurance means that your damage is not covered but they will pay the other person. Ok fine, why is it more or equal amount of money as Fully Comprehensive? That doesn't make sense. They are forcing every British citizen to get the fully comp one even if they don't want to, hence why people in UK are stuck driving piece of shit cars.
In Russia like in the rest of Eastern Europe you insure the car not the person, so you can get in any vehicle and drive legally as long as it has insurance. Also the one you talking about is the most basic 3rd party which say it's 300 euros for anybody, any age etc. While there is fully comprehensive that will insure you for 1000 euros but you will get the same car and color. Unlike UK, the price is fixed, there is neither of this bullshit called no claims bonus, criminal location, car theft desire, age, years of driving experience, so yes you can actually get a Veyron if you can afford it and the fuel cost.
Think about it, in UK you hear people constantly moaning about insurance, I have not heard anybody in Eastern Europe to complain about this aspect of driving. It's mainly fuel costs. Different lifestyle, different economy, that's all. Does that mean they are all driving V8 powered Corvets, Porsches and Ferraris? No, it's all LADA's and whatever the Korean Market imports.

I'm calling drivers fuckwits. Three types:

• Those who can't compare their speed with road situation (see high speed crashes or braking fails)
• Those who have no instinct for self-preservation (blatantly ignoring priority signs, lights etc)
• Those who don't understand or know the driving rules (ignoring all the above even without knowing)

Russian insurance companies aren't making things better with low prices for downright dangerous vehicles in wrong hands (read - regular Russian driver' hands) and payouts are rediculous, but general retardness of our drivers is crazy. You'll never see that in UK, you just have to come here and watch.

I'm not calling every insurance worker in a world a twat, just Russian ones. You'll knew what's up when insurance broker tell you straight away that you'll be fucked when someone will crash into you (!) because your car is old and somehow for the insurance all repairs and spares have a 90% reduction in price. So in conclusion you'll get 1/3 or 1/4 of the full sum. I'll share some of my insurance related stories with you later, when I'll have a possibility to do it.

skyinsurance, I am sorry if I offended you somehow, but UK insurance and Russian insurance is not just different things - it's a different universes. I heard you do your job right, I have no problems with that. Hell, even if I'll manage to get away from this country into UK, you'll get my call straight away.

BTW we have a very strict laws on drinking and driving: instant ban for even a hint of alcohol in blood. 0.01 promille and you are banned for two years, no shit. Even if you have a medical prescription for drugs that slightly raises the alcohol percentage in blood and you have 0.01, you're banned.
Obv there are bribes and such, but look at these poor LADA drivers! They doesn't look like they know important people nor have the money to pay.
