Theres a brand new centre opened in Leicester as part of DMU Uni with what looks to be a decent wall in it so i'll be down there as long as i can get in! (being of non student orientation)

Snowboard 1 - 2 times a week and probably cycle 20 miles a week too! The cycling part is actually riding dirt on bmx but it's still a friggin work out!!!
Considering how much you lift/bench, I'm really impressed you climb! Are you now just really strong, or do you struggle a lot due to (probably) high body-weight? Either way, I'm really happy that someone who lifts big weight on his actually trains for a reason, other than getting big. Good work!

ps. I managed 19 consecutive chin-ups yesterday (yes, chinups are easier than pullups, but I'll do those soon and see what my max is)

DAMN, that's monstrous! I'm well impressed mate. I couldn't do that full 19 in the gym - it required a bar I could grip to what was a comfortable distance apart, nothing else. I hope you're doing muscle ups too, if you can do 39 chin ups! From what I remember, you're quite a big guy too, right?

    Cheers mate,

I weighed in yesterday at 16st 7lbs so actually getting heavier and i'm not sure why? Probably due to the shiteness of being made redundant!!!
I've found that boulder walls (smaller walls usually tackled without a rope and a max of 5 metres high) I can now do without the use of my legs for example so yeah, the weight training and for me what feels like stupid heavy weight really helps.
I don't find my clinical obesity (thats right on paper I could claim disability for being officially obese) holds me back - Apart from when I fell over a few months back - NOT PISSED - broke 3 ribs and my thorax because and i'm quoting my doctor "It's mostly due to your excessive upper body mass and the way you hit the ground"
For the record i'm exactly 6 feet tall!

I only do it all for fun, just a laugh really isn't it!
Recently been thinking about sacking the gym off for a bit and ONLY climbing!... Hmmmmm

Ow and Props on the chin ups!

My only advice would be to take your 12 stone goal and not focus on it. If you smash the weights PROPERLY and nail the cardio 3/4 times a week then your weight goal but more importantly your 'looks' goal will be achieved quicker and you'll be a lot happier getting there! Focusing on dropping a lb here and there is bollocks! Most people shit about 3lbs! FACT!

And then I scrolled back up the page and saw th link you posted lol. Bought a 29er mountain bike on monday. Completley different to riding a 26" wheel bike, especially with spd pedals as well. Been on a few 5/6 mile rides on it and love it. Feels like I'm actually doing something cus even sown hill above 30mph there's resistance in the pedals to pudh against

This is my kind of gym:

Weights and running bore me sooooooo much, this is way more fun IMO, I find it easier to motivate and make climbing social.

You are pretty heavy Hug-lo! I can only do as much bodyweight stuff as I can because I weigh so little (still 5'9", but only 9.5st)

Yup, that's it, got to find time to start climbing after I get back from holiday! It's a 20 mile drive, but the climbing and petrol will be cheaper than a night out, and I've basically given that up, so sounds like a winner!

    Heya guys.

Just a quick one. Don't know if anyone can help me out.

I'm 22, 5'9 and 13.3 stone. I was abit heavier a little while back and have noticed since doing cavity wall insulation, that the weight dropped off me very quickly!

I have moved to Scotland and currently don't have a job but was wondering.

Without using a gym, what's the quickest/best form of exercise to lean up. Not necessarily get 'bigger', but just loose fat.

I've always been a broad lad and wish to get to about a 32" waist before attacking the gym.

Yes, I'm well aware that i'm too heavy to ride a pit bike according to the owners manual ACHIEVEMENT!

As foor wanting to drop weight without any kind of anything! Quit beer and hold off the brad and fried foods as much as possible then: Find lots of steps and walk up them 2 at a time for 20 mins a day! It WILL kill you but it DOES work!

I'll stick up a picture of where i ride! It's not exactly a boring street!

Anyone on here do powerlifting? or hybrid lifting, as im a bit stuck i cant seem to gain any more strength on my dead, bench and squat without either getting a pull or putting more fat on (which i dont want to do) i was 20 stone 4 few weeks ago down to like 19 stone and my strength has gone down from:

    Deadlift : 290kg - 260kg
    Squat : 210kg - 190kg
Bench : 150kg - not tryed 1 rpm but did 135kg x5's so don't think its dropped much

suppose im not on creatine anymore just i cant seem to get anymore tryed Tokar's 5x5's and tryed 12 weeks defacite programme and went from 285-290 but its not going up now..

Gutted just anoys me how i cant be lean and have strength, you can to an extent, but then i wonder how people like ilya ilin can do clean and jerk with 230kg and hes lean lol, must be the olly lifting for more fast twitch fibres... advice would be great from someone who seriously knows there stuff

Does anyone use any kind of apps to keep track of their progress in the gym? I have a piece of card that I write stuff on, but it would be much easier to be able to do it all on the iPhone and keep track of it that way.

I know my GF uses one (it does calories as well) I don't at the mo, but only just started with the pad, would be interest to in any apps?

Hows everyones excersing goin? I'm enjoying it quite a bit at the mo, since using a post workout shake, recover times have got a notivable amount quicker

I use PHD synergy iso-7 (mint choc) it tastes just like Mint aeros lol, and my mates using BSN Tue mass (vanilla) tastes like icecream. For thise people like me that have to have something that tastes half decent

Been doing alot of incline chest and playing with different width grips etc alot more

Fitness buddy, costs 69p and has a massive library of workouts and you can log what you have done when. Well worth it

I'm in France on holiday atm, which is lovely! The workouts have definitely been suffering lately though. Did some clean and jerks and a bench press/pressup superset this morning. Not big weight, but it was a good way to start up again.

Got a bitchin' tan atm though, so I can look good anyway
