Oil changes on the RX7 FC should be done on a fortnightly basis, using only fully synthetic oil.

If it's not done fortnightly, the seals on the rotary tips get brittle and snap off into the engine. This sounds like a pound coin has fallen out of your jeans pocket into the washing machine at your mums house.

Also, the loom needs to be removed from the vehicle yearly and checked for loose joins, poor connections etc, as otherwise when a fuse blows, it causes the dash lights and heaters to stop working.

If you don't remove it from the car yearly, you'll get an engine fire and be stranded on the side of the M2 until 7am as the RAC don't have any trucks to assist that can get a really low car on the back.

    LOL! ^^

Why get an Egi? Why not a turbo? In fact, why not buy my TII 'vert?

What you need to know - they are fun, tuneable, hideously expensive to run and you have to keep on top of them maintenance wise. The MazdaRotaryClub forum is very useful and a great place to get advice and source bits.

Remember there is no fire without flames so just ignore the burning smell untill you see a flame.

Remember to run ridiculous amounts of tire pressure if you're running an NA motor.

Also remember never lift your foot off of the go-fast pedal while drifting that thing.

Oil changes every two weeks. sounds like i'd best get shares in shell, texaco, and bp lmfao Cheers for the advice guys, but surely the loom doesn't need that much maintenance, my current e30's not that bad :S

Lmao at lightning post. But in all seriousness they are no worse than any other jap car from that era. they will all have faults but hey ho they are 20 plus years old now. oil change every 3k if just used on the road if tracking the car they really should be done more often with mineral oil 10-40w if you can get it.

Lightning is taking the piss mate, don't worry! Again, in all seriousness - don't hold yourself to an NA. Go turbo.

If you want to drift one then you want to eliminate the rear steer (DTSS elim. bushes), and have a welded diff (they're a bastid to do though - you need to drop the rear subframe about half an inch, or have teensy tiny, strong long, many jointed fingers). Everything else is optional. For daily use then do what you want. It's all about having fun!

you may as well get a Turbo II, you'll only want to get more power out of the EGI and they don't take kindly to boost without a few other upgrades. Get a T2 straight off.

altho Lightning was a bit extreme in what he said, he is right about the oil changing and the electrical maintanance, yes fortnightly is a bit extreme but they do need regular oil changes, and the reason the loom needs to be checked is because (so ive been told) if they lose spark (ie drog a plug) they can petty much destroy that rotor.. great engine design, but really fragile, hence why i'd never go rotary myself

Get under the car and check the sills... they normally rot faster than mother theresas teeth!

Exhausts tend to rot out and are price so check for it blowing.

However... if youre buying one just skip the EGI bollocks and get a turbo. Better looking, faster, stronger gearbox, nicer interior, and fuel economy isnt really any worse.

Going turbo seems to be the way. . . However i need to sell the two e30's i have, and find a suitable FC. . .and make enough moneys to get one out of the proceeds. . . This being my sole dilemma atm. . The advert will be up soon, as i'll be looking to do a swap, or make a bulk sell

Why not pop along to santa pod for Rotorstock/God of the pod. It's a week on saturday. Its the biggest meeting of RX's in Europe and you never know you might just find your next car there.
