So I'm struggling a little. I'm looking for a fun daily but I want to be able to legally tow with it, so a towing weight on the VIN and EC approved tow bar available. Doesn't need a high weight though as it's just to tow a small trailer with a go kart, so a few hundred kg is fine.

E46 looks like a good contender. Does anyone have any other ideas?

    Cheers

To give an idea, the sort of cars i have been considering are Clio 172, Civic Type R, 350Z. But none are regulated to tow.

Why would you want to tow with a Clio or a Civic? :S One is a tiny little bread getter for old ladies and the other has less torque than a toaster.

Get a proper car to tow it with, like that BMW up top or a Jeep or something. imo.

EDIT - I see your only towing a go kart... So I suppose a clio would work lmao. Although it would pretty comical to see :D Do it.

Yeah thats the thing. Its only to tow a loaded trailer of about 3-400kg which i will only do once every few weeks. So priority 1 is a fun daily, but i also need to be able to tow with it.

It looks like if i get a car registered before 08/1998 then i dont need an EC tow bar, however the VIN plate still needs to say it can tow, or some official documentation at least. I did get excited at the thought of getting an R33 as a few people seem to have tow bars but i dont think its legal.

Yeah i know about the roof rack idea, in fact the Fina liveried BMW is a colleague of mine. Long and short of it is that i dont want to have to fully dismantle the kart every time, my gf isnt strong enough to lift it onto the roof of a car and my hip is FUBARd so although i can lift it alone, its painful. This is why im going the trailer route.

my laptop is being shit and freezing everytime i send a pm so i will just write the details here.
its a 2006 320d with meister R coilovers and some csl copy wheels (17x10 all around).
its very high mileage at 216000 but everything that wears out or could need replacing has been. its quieter and smoother than a 48000 mile 320d that was traded in at work.
most of the miles are easy motorway miles. that it just eats up.
it has a towbar already. it has been remapped so its goes like a stabbed rat.
it will do 140mph and it averages about 53mpg with me driving like a twat so i would imagine low 60s would be the norm.

the price im after is £4k

    Nope.
it drives like a car with less than half the miles and has been nothing but reliable.
I don't need to sell it but if I do I can make my Aristo manual and single turbo.
I could have said it was 80k and you would beleivr it After a test drive.

Sorry twiglett, diesel is a no really as when i do drive to work its about 1.5 miles, not great for most engines, but particularly diesel it would suck.
I quite like those stageas but being an auto im not too fond of the idea. Welcome to send me a few pictures though.

    Cheers
