Been thinking about picking up a cheap Almera GTI as a daily. Anyone here had any experiences with them? Decent fun to drive? I know that an SR20DE isn't going to be hugely fast but mainly want to know if they are fun to chuck about or not worth bothering with. Reckon they can look quite good with some import size plates and simple wheels like Buddyclubs or similar.

I was looking at one for some FWD fun but never bothered...

Depends if you're going to throw money at it...

I'd rather have an MR2 they're about sub 1k now

MR2s are far from a practical daily though, need something that can lug parts and passengers when the sbody isnt playing ball. Plus if I find a red one it'll match my 14 and I'll have two SRs lol. Mainly wanna find out if they are a half decent steer compared to similar stuff, from what I hear they handle surprisingly well and I've seen loads for under £500. Whatever I get will end up with coilovers / wheels / bride brix either way but thats as far as I'd go in terms of chucking money at it.

Extremely underated cars. 100% reccommend. Not many left these days either

Wee bit of money spent and it will embarrass alot of other cars out there. Especially with coilovers.

Mine is currently off the road for a full forged turbo rebuild.

I haven't posted her in ages, but let me say this....

There are days when I miss my N15 GTi more than my R33 GTST. That thing was amazing.
