Prodrift European Series Calendar 2008

Below please find confirmed dates for the 2008 Prodrift European Series:

  1. April 19th/20th .........................Ireland, Mondello Park
  2. May 24th .................................UK, Teeside Autodrome
  3. June 14th/15th....................... Sweden, Sturup Raceway
  4. July 26th/27th......................... Benelux (XD Collab) TBC
  5. August 23rd/24th .....................Finland, Alastaro
  6. September 27th ......................UK, Teeside Autodrome
The 2008 Prodrift European Series represents the efforts of a team of international drivers, colleagues and affiliates working towards a series of events that are a true representation of the drifting talent and culture that exists in Europe. The venues to be used also hold particular significance to the current fabric of the European Drifting Community.

RD 1 Ireland – The territory that experiences greatest support from both drivers and spectators. 90mph entries and a unique atmosphere generated by a capacity audience makes for an ideal start to the 2008 Prodrift European Series. Acting as the finale to a 3 day drifting festival at Irelands national race circuit, this weekend will be the THE most extensive drift festival ever to take place in Europe.

RD 2 UK – A strong drifting grid with professional, high profile competitors will convene on the Teeside circuit in North East England for Round 2 of the Prodrift European Series. Stiff competition from local UK competitors will guarantee that Europe’s elite are put to the test around this exciting circuit.

RD 3 Sweden - Located in the southern tip of Sweden, Sturup Raceway has already played host to drifting demonstrations as part of a national Touring Car event. Unprecedented positive feedback and enthusiasm from the Swedish motorsport public confirmed the appeal of Sturup as host to an official leg of the Prodrift European Series. The first of 2 Prodrift events to be held in Scandinavia, evidence of the depth of local talent that exists within that region.

RD 4 Benelux – In partnership with the Xtremedrift Series Prodrift will position Round 4 of the European Series in the Benelux Region. Xtremedrift is recognised as the leading force in mainland European drift competition, and as such, Xtremedrift competitors have dominated European drift championships. In 2008 the fearless drivers of the Benelux region will be granted an opportunity to stamp their authority over Europe’s best drifters on home turf.

RD 5 Finland - The Finnish leg of the Prodrift European Series takes place on what could be the most challenging and exciting drift circuit on the Prodrift calendar. Alastaro offers fast flowing bends with undulating chicanes and technical transitions. Coupled with a world famous motorsport heritage and the natural talent of Nordic competitors, the trip north of Helsinki will certainly rank as a highlight to the 2008 Prodrift European Series.

RD 6 Finals UK – Returning to Teeside, Round 6 will represent a historic finale to the first Prodrift European Series. With the pressure on for final championship standings, the talent of Europe’s best drifters, combined with the skill of the local UK competitors, will make for an exciting flood lit competition that will determine the 2008 Prodrift European Series Champion.

Commenting on the announcement of the 2008 calendar, Prodrift’s Sales & Marketing manager Karl O’Sullivan said, “Finally we have co-ordinated the series of international drift competitions worthy of Europe’s best competitors. Using the most established and recognised European drift territories, this 2008 Series marks an exciting period of growth for European Drifting. During the next 4 months we will have regular exciting announcements about the Prodrift European Series and what it will offer for teams, drivers, spectators and fans.’

Managing director of Prodrift, Graham McNamara added, “Our constant research across the European drift scene has afforded Prodrift the confidence to take this giant step with European Drifting. The calendar is set up to offer a non-stop, action packed tour of exciting events and venues. From the enormous launch event in Ireland and the step into the Nordic circuits with a Finale in the UK, the 2008 season is set to set a new bench mark for international European drift competition’.
