Stuff arrived from Japan the other day ( yokomo s13 and ps13 with light buckets ) First time attempting anything like this but the paint turned out pretty good (protective outer layer still on) Just waiting on a knife and lexan scissors being delivered so I can cut it out. Also ordered some wheels. Will update this as I do stuff.
Got a body reamer thing coming too, forgot to mention that. It's got wee indents at the front corners of the bonnet vent and positions at the back for making the holes.
Its going on a mr4tc. Gonna have to move the posts to the wider positions I think, but I will make sure it all lines up before I make any holes.
I had to do that on the front posts. Bit gay that the carbon bumper brace I had isn't wide enough to use with the posts set so wide. Colour looks sweet. Did you use a backing colour?
Nah no backing colour. Got some nato black but not sure if that would make the purple look darker or just stop the light shining through?
Back it with some gold or silver. It'll be quite see through when the light is on it otherwise. Itd be a shame to ruin a nice shell like that.
I will probably get some more paint tomorrow then, no point doing it half hearted. Is it better to cut the shell out or paint it first, or is it really just personal preference? Still got the ps13 shell to do and I want to get it right.
Good man I paint then cut. If your body lines up with the dimples there's no need to pre drill but if it's not a yokomo chassis for instance then I'd drill first.
What backing colour did you use? I was expecting it to look more or less the same metallic colour. What are you doing headlight wise as I can't see them fitted? Not bad job though
I got impatient and didn't back it with anything. Might still do it later if it's too see through. Done the lights today. They came with covers but I actually prefer it without them fitted.
I wasn't that keen on the big overhang at the front of the light. Might have another wee play about with them tomorrow.
