| Hi mate, sorry we are so busy with projects if i can't get back to you in good time, its always worth a quick call. Right, well there is a very real looking carbon vinyl but its no good for curver and certainly not wrapping. I do know of an amazing Carbon fibre wrap type material in Japan but its not cheap and it would depend on how big an area you need it for. Ive seen wrapped around various trim peices and interior parts and its bloomin impressive stuff! Cheers Si |

its normal carbon matting what say a seat would be made out of or a F1 car its stuck and shaped on with resin, then resin on that, flated of then clear coated, its made from scratch that what your on about is not good, dosn't have a good effect ![]()

We are getting our wires crossed mate the stuff you are talking about is real carbon used with resin and made into template trimms. The opening poster is asking for a decent look carbon VINYL that can wrap curves like body panels etc, nothing like the process your Bro is doing. Cheers Si

| Here is a quote from the maker of this wrapping carbon fibre sheets. "Carbon is produced using a special manufacturing process that allows REAL Carbon fibers to maintain flexibility and elasticity without losing the tremendous strength that is a characteristic of Carbon" Basically we can supply a sheet and you can cut trimm it to any part of the car then heat and wrap it round....... its quite amazing stuff (although i dont think they make sheets that would cover a bonnet/roof but i am in contact with the Japanese company so i'll let people know.another link full of pics of the Carbon being used arcticavant.com >> photography > senko carbon fiber Wrapping a bit of trimm video Si Last edited by SJS design : 08-05-2008 at 10:21. |

| Bottom line guys, there is no Carbon fibre wrap type vinyl that looks close to the real thing i'm afraid. The magical carbon is REAL carbon so its not a cheap alternative. Still waiting on some pricing for that. Si |

| touge runner | Am interested in a real carbon / very very good wrap to use as an infill on the roof of my R32 GTR as the lacquer is not in great condition and I'm loathe to paint the whole car. It would need to be big enough to cover the whole roof panel between the style lines. If you could do something I'd be very interested. The question is is that stuff from japan smooth or textured? I've used real carbon sheets as spats on my 86 N2 car and that was a case of cutting to shape, heating it and sticking it on, but its slightly textured so probs wouldn't work on a whole roof panel. |
