so do people need some kind of proof they're a 'member' of driftworks? when I've lied in the past about being an sxoc member the insurers wanted a membership number.

When you contact us for a quote you will be asked which club you came from and for your user name... if there are any problems with this at all, fire me a PM and I will clear it up on your behalf.

I am your forum representative, although I work for Sky Insurance please think of me as working for you as your link to Sky Insurance

Regards

Ollie

Great news

What's your stance on engine swapped vehicles? I have to insure a 200sx with a Lexus LS400 V8 in it soon... It's also fully caged etc, I presume with the nature of this forum that wont be as much a problem as it always used to be...?

Hi,

we have no problem insuring engine swapped cars.. we are affiliated with a car club called 'Two Brutal' and we insure many turbo converted and 3.0L V6 converted MR2s from this club. I own a 3SGTE converted AW11 MR2 and I will be insuring with Sky Insurance in April.

The only point I'd like to make is we insure the driver more so than the vehicle... so if you have no experience of this type of vehicle/previous claims/certain convictions we may say no. Generally no problem though.

Although we are specialists in this field, there will always be individuals we cannot insure but this is no different to any other insurer. Get in contact for a quote , the worst that can happen is we will say no!

Do you have to be above a certain age to qualify for your insurance?

We do have criteria and this can vary from vehicle to vehicle... for example we are not going to insure 19 year old fully comp on a highly modified skyline. Insurance is very much about the individual. By NOT insuring high risk drivers we keep our premiums lower for customers who meet the desired criteria. We generally find that car club members are low risk as they care about their vehicles, I know I do.

Our very miniumum criteria is aged over 19 ideally with 1 years no claims bonus.

Regards

So, If I were to ask for a quote, and mention I'm on here, would I get a 20% discount? Or do we have to have taken part in EDC etc. or something?

Sorry for the question, cheap insurance doesn't come along normally, lol.

Hi,

We may struggle with that one to be honest, I will double check tomorrow as I am not in the office and get back to you.
