As opposed to someone driving around in a mini/punto for a while, then upgrading to something juicy, and telling the insurance company to trust them because they have been driving hardcore motors for years.
Yes thats obviously the point but if you see my predicament above, I have driven performance cars for a long time up until a year ago when I bought my truck. I still had the 200 as a track car up until 6 months ago but as I wasnt insured on it or used it as a regular driver I didnt mention it as there is no way of proving ownership or use. Thats the point in my question.

Worth realising this IS a public forum, and I KNOW insurance companies read here, as I had trouble with the last practice day because of it.

Yes I am well aware of the central insurance database but as ive already stated I have not and do not intend to lie to anyone. In fact I had a quote from a similar insurance company yesterday who took into acount the use of my other cars in the past and not just the past year.

Instead of trying to be such an opinionated idiot and get laughs from every post you make maybe you could grow up a little and try being constructive to legitimate questions. If you think it sounds dodgey at first or there is an alterior motive behind it then it wouldnt hurt to delve a bit deeper rather than provide your childish input.

To be fair I probably wouldnt have asked this question if they had said from the outset that they couldnt quote me but the first guy I spoke to took all my details and I explained my driving experience, which he appeared to take into account and said he'd call me back. When I called back the day after I spoke to a different guy who asked me straight away how long had I owned the car. When I said I havent bought it yet he said he wouldnt waste my time because they couldnt get me a quote.

When I called the second company I imediately asked what there criteria was and as it was the same as Sky I explained my story all over again. Anyway not only did they take my experience into account but they also got me the quote for imediate use rather than having to wait until my birthday when im 25.

Easy fella. I was actually trying to offer constructive feedback on the latter of my posts.

This is acutally a very interesting question, just a shame so many members here want to take the "LOOK AT ME! I MADE A FUNNY" route these days instead of acutally helping.

Why isn't driving an 300+hp 200SX considered enough experience? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that make a skyline a downgrade (at least on paper)?

From what I've heard, insurance companies cock up regularly with giving extra NCB and forgetting claims from previous policies from other insurance companies which makes me wonder if insurance companies do any checking up at all.

A simple - "We research each and every one of our customers to confirm their details " or "We rely on our customers to provide their correct details" from sky would clear a lot up (at least in my mind)

My apologies, I took your question as a bit tongue in cheek.

In answer to your question, where possible we will get proof (eg last years insurance certificate). Bare in mind that we record all calls and you are entering into a verbal contract with us.

Under some circumstances we will take the customers word for it.

With regards to your first sentence; car insurance is all about individuals and cars. Claim stats are awful on all skylines (na and turbo) so that is why we say no to under 25's.

With regards to your second sentence; insurance companies regularily share information and it is quite often we find out about undisclosed convictions and claims. Big brother is watching!

If anyone ever has any general insurance questions, I am more than happy to help via PM
