Insurance to drive a car to the ferry

hi

im possibly going to the UK to buy a car one of the next few weeks.

Can i legaly drive the car from the seller to the ferry or do i need to buy some sort of insurance?? - im from Denmark

I know here in Denmark the sellers insurance has to cover the new owner for the first 3 weeks after the sale.

how do i drive the car legaly to the ferry?? (4-5 hours driving)

Kind Regards
Aarosin

you will need to get insured or you risk being pulled.

try some sort of temp cover company.

norwich union do good 1day cover but you might be limited as you are from abroad.

sky insurance may well do something.

pay the seller (from the money the insurance would cost)

Bullocks, an insurance is person-bound, so if he's from Denmark, he can't use the insurance from a UK-resident. Purchase German export plates. Insured, and cheap.

Im not sure how that works. That means the seller will get more moneys for his car if he isn't a forum member (possibly even if he is) as he won't go round all the trouble of buying insurance for him right?

Best bet is to get day insurance, will be fairly cheap (around 20 quid or so). Should be doable to get it on your own denmark adress, perhaps at a little more dolla though.

Im pretty sure you wont be able to insure it from the UK. You wont have a UK address, licence etc its not going to happen.

To sort it legally youd have to insure it from your own country first.

This is a very grey ara and is not something we would be able to help with.

I would recommend either:

Getting the seller to drive it to the port
Trailer the car to the port.
