meh, flated it off after removing minemal rust, then used black rattle cans, in the cold outside, turned out pretty shiney, and fairly tuf wearing!! cost me about 15sheets in cans, about 2/3 i think!!

i just used a rattlecan on the subframe, but used a brush on the diff housing cause it's cast. was just a lot easier to use a brush for that.

When I did mine, I used a wire brush in a drill to get the rust and loose paint off, gave it a wipe with thinners, then sprayed it with a tin of underseal stuff.
I wasn't fussed about it being shiny.

Ive been told brushing Hammerite on to get a good covered and THEN going over with a can of the same colour Hammerite sprayed on will get rid of the crappy brushed finish.

Anyone got any suggestions for a REALLY strong degreaser?

Got some stuff I used before painting surfaces in the house but its not shifting this thick oil/grease on this subframe.

i use gunk and its pretty good, you have to wait around for it to really dig in though and you still have to brush heavy grease etc

Use a scraper to get the worst of it off, then cellulose thinners

I wire brushed mine with a drill, applied Kurust in a few hard to reach places, two coats of Red Oxide and two coats of Hammerite. Doesn't look pretty but it's a lot better than before and it's well protected now.

Bit late now, but I used POR15 on the subframe and inner wings. That stuff is hardcore.
