| F*ck your EGO. ![]() | Painting subframe Whats the best thing to use? Got a bit of rust to get off first and don't wanna be there all day getting it off so something which'll go on without it being too perfect underneath would be good. Finish doesn't have to be mint but just tidy and needs to keep the weather at bay. Also, any tips for painting it up - i.e how to keep the paint from building up around threads etc? |

| you dont need to but ive always had much better results when using there own primer but like i said after a decent sandown and de grease it will be fine to paint straight on. oh thats another thing..make sure you de-grease/clean it well...hammerite reacts to EVERYTHING. you could powdercoat it to be posh but thats money and time |

| POR15 It's the daddy. Seriously, that stuff will be around post nuclear blast long after all the cockroaches have died off.2 Coats of that followed by 2 coats of 'chassis black' I've never had much success with HAmmerite, and the problem with powder coating is it seems to chip and flake off, not sure it's tough enough, wheeas the POR15 is rubbery and self healing. |

| Por15 - sticks like shit to a highly adhesive blanket. Clean it with some degreaser, key it, then paint it on with a brush, sets smooth and looks good .. well as good as you could expect a subframe to look. Sets harder than a mofo too. Dont get it on your skin! |

| Sick Puppy | POR15 is bloody awesome stuff, expensive though. Got mine from Frost mail order, but its quite shocking the price for a tin of paint, if I were painting a subframe I'd just use hammerite. Yeah and if gets on your hands its there till the skin beneath it falls off ![]() |

| Jord, Frost and Holden do it ... Bum rape prices though as they are the only places in the UK where you can get it. Still you could paint it onto pretty much anything and it just sticks and dosnt react. Also dont paint from the tin, it goes off, pour out into a plastic cup or something and seal straight up or 3/4 of the way through the tin it will turn to shit. Oh and it will genuinley bond the lid to the tin if you dont clean any dibbles off from the lid sealing area. |

| I paid £15 for 5 litres of black hammerite so have developed a good knowledge of how it works since everything is now covered in it lol. I can say that painting subframes in it works very well No primer required just make sure it's not oily. |
