| Not worth it unless you are trying to be 100% competitive. You could probably save about 20kg with basic stripping, maybe 50-60 if you went mental with fibreglass panels and removing important stuff. So it's easier to just drive a bit better. Lots of people strip out cars because they think it's "drift" but the truth is, unless you are drifting a 120bhp sierra or similar, stripping out the interior isn't going to make a bit difference. Obviously some cars would benefit immensely from it, I saved nearly 200kg from my old BMW which made it a damn site faster but that was me driving a bare shell with lots of other mods, and it was a big BMW 5 series not a small sports coupe. |

so if you had say, a 325 e30 and can save 50kg, then did the same to a 316 you going to increase the power to weight more on the 316.

| Unless you are competing or sticking a cage in or whatever I don't think its worthwhile stripping due to making the car so unpractical day to day, noisy, clunky, rattly, etc. Just remove your seats when you go to a drift day which takes 5 minutes and that will take out a good amount of the interior weight; and you've still got a car thats nice to drive around day to day. |

My point is, for the 20kg or so you'd save in an s14 it's not going to be worth it unless you're competing. But if you could save 50kg in a 316 then it might make it worthwhile. As for listing your specs gibbo, that's good for you, well done, if you are building a full on competition car then may as well strip it out, but I doubt you are so may as well make it comfortable. This whole attitude must come with age ![]()

| ChickFoot FTW ![]() | I see MJG's point on this actually, completely stripping a low powered car is worth it i.e. taking everything inc sound deadening out of a volvo makes a lot of difference, but you have enough power to drift with an s14 with or without seats, it dont make a difference, so for daily use i would leave it all in and do as Royal said for skid days. Although, i tend to agree i like a stripped out car too, not sure why lol |

| I never minded stripped out cars, was fun, but there's no actual point in doing it unless you don't WANT rear seats or if you WANT to hear everything. At the end of the day you can easily just pull out the rear seats and trim, and if you think it's ghey (you won't notice any difference so just on the noise/comfort factor) then put it back in. Removing seats and trim makes room for more wheels on a drift day though which is always handy. |

| ChickFoot FTW ![]() | I've just been using my Silvia for day to day and thats stripped of everything and you get used to it very quickly, in fact my daily drivers have been stripped out too for as long as i can remember, so go for it, just dont break anything ripping it out incase you want to put it back in! |

| Mr Sir | I love my stripped out S14, parked out the front of my house even without a working engine it looks super bad. Driving it was a massively unpleasant experience though, every piece of grit that gets flicked up from the road sounds like something has fallen off the car, and when something finally did fall off the car (the turbo elbow bolts) I could have sworn it sounded and felt like the engine had passed in its entirety beneath the car's floorpan. The answer is of course to use an iPod to drown the noise out with a selection of your favourite beats and basslines, theres no point in having any other ICE because the lack of sound deadening makes the choonage sound like its been passed through a food blender. Am I happy without an interior? Yes. Would I take my Mrs out in an interiorless car? No. Would I do it to another car? Yes, but then I self-harm so all bets are off really. |
