hi, I dont know alot about it but I know you cant use the MR2 parts, since it's basiclly a fwd set up, just in the back of the car. The engine can be used (also from a AE92) but needs a few mods to mount it for rwd.

Im gonna take it that you have an old kp starlet

gearbox's : T50 or k50, both should fit nicely (needs a custom mount of course).
Shaft /Diff: some of the guys from OZ use a chopped shaft and diff from a hilux.

Hope that helps a little

nope thats teh 86 box , the k50 is KP but it may not take all that much abuse with a 1.6 in it so the 86 box is a better choice

Starlet KP Series (All the RWD ones) have either a K50 (5 speed) or a K40 (4 speed)

AE86 back axel WILL NO FIT, you need cut off all the mounting points off the ae86 axel, and weld on the mounts off the KP Starlet axel.

The KP and AE86 Axels also have different mounting style to the chassis of the car. The AE86 is 5 link and has a parallel set up but the KP has an angled style link set up and is only 4 linked (No panard rod).

Ae86 is also (approx) 2 inches wider than the KP axel.

Also, Most AE86 have Disks rear (some early AE86 do have Drums) but for this reason, you need to make sure you run a better Brake Master Cylinder and an ae86 Bais valve to keep it all level. Also, using AE86 front struts is a better idea.

After that your easy option would be to make coilover rear shocks to avoid having to have to use spring perches.

Ae86 front brake's are a great idea to if using a 4age, so you need to get the complet front struts, hub, discs, calipers and steering knuckles of the AE86. You need to sleeve out the hole on the ae86 steering knukles that join to the steering rack, as KP steering knuckes are a different shape platform for the bottom of the AE86 strut casing. Makke sure you use KP TOP MOUNTS as the 3x bolts holes are in a different position on a KP and ae8, you could redrill new holes but I uggest just using KP top mounts (either std or aftermarket camber adj etc.

Neither a KP or AE86 Prop will fit. If you use a AE86 axel, just get the ae86 prop when your 4age is all in and in place get a custom one made (shorten the ae86 prop, normally about £100).

Use the AE86 Gear bog and engine, The ae86 box is the T50, its a 5 speed Hydrolic operated clutch, but the std KP clutch is cble operated, so you will need to make adjustments to the KP pedals and fit a Clutch Master Cylinder (you could use a AE86 one or use one that fits off other cars). You will need to drill a hole in the bulk head for this.

the fitment of the Gear box depend on the engine mounts, you have to make custom ones here as AE86 x memebers are too wide. You might get away with the gear box fitting in the tunnel, or it might need a littkle hammer action in places.

You wil need to also make a gearbox mount too (easy if you butcher a std ae86 mount with the kp one.

Cant remeber if the shifter comes out in the same place but the std KP shifter will fit into a t50 box.

if yoy find a complete ae86 engine, it would make it much easier to fit. Any other 16v 4age will have everything set up for a FWD set up. You can use any 16v 4age but you will want all the gear that comes off the ae86 engine to make the cooling system:

Rear water outlet at back of hed
Side water channels
thermostat housing
rwd Water pump
rwd inlet manifold (if you use the later 'small port 4age then the ae86 inlet wont match up so you need to either to cet a conversion plate made up, or swap the TB to the other end of the inlet)
RWD Manifold

you also need

RWD alternator bracket
rwd starter

nice radiator for the front (AE86 one wont be a direct fit, o may aswel use anything you think is up to the job,.

Custom exhaust

lots more but Im off to play GTA4

Hope that helps

IIRC the shifter ends up a several inches back so some chopy chop is required.
