Stupid Electric fan Questions

Finally got my spal electric fan, got some probally really dumb questions i need answering(remember im thick)

Is there anyway of telling if the fan is a sucker or a blower by just looking at it or is it a case or wiring it up and finding out?
Also brought a fitting kit for it which included a relay and a amp connector, i was just going to wire it on a switch in the cabin, will i need to use them or not?

sorry there lame questions just i know nothing and i mean nothing about wiring

I wired mine through a relay, apparently its essential as otherwise they get all on fire and stuff. I dont know what an amp connector is though. I stuck mine on a battery briefly just to see which way the air was flowing first, before wiring.

My blades were curved such that they were shallow angle on the leading edge then curved to be more of an aggressive angle (ie facing the direction of travel) on the trailing edge. This meant that if I ran it one way it would be efficient, scooping the air and shoving it out the back, but if I reversed it the leading edge would be of a steep angle then the trailing edge would be at a shallow angle thus just making turbulance more than proper air movement.

If your blades are curved as above, then only run it as above (fan would be turning anti-clockwise if you were the single arrow in bottom left). If you ran it t'other way it wouldn't be as good.

Deffo use a relay. Fans pull a lot of current, more than a normal switch can handle without melting, catching fire and destroying your car.

Got a pic of this amp connector?

I've just used a switch on my twin cossie fans, no problems as yet. I also ran my e30 like this with a single fan for months, and my e28 with a big single fan whenever the e28 was running.

i have just fitted a electric fan on my KE and new Ali radiator.

I bought a fan control switch from Demon Tweeks, it siys in you top rad hose and it come with a relay and is really simple to wire up and you can set when you want the fan to kick in too.
