Speed Limited?

Is there any way of finding out if the top speed on a jap import is limited, other than doing more than 112mph?

Jack the wheels off the floor and do 112? Depends if the speed reading is taken from the driven wheels though!

There's so many ways to get round the limiter, you can't really search for them all.
Best to just find a 'private motorway'

Considering the car had switches to turn the rear lights on to escape the police etc, I doubt it has a speed limiter.

Though considering any remotely fast car will get over that speed within half a mile, its got to be the easiest thing to test in the world.

It's off the clock at 180, which is 111.85mph. So not entirely sure what speed I'm doing. Might stick the tomtom in there.

When it's bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th you'll know you're doing more than 112mph

If it were limited it'd cut at 180k, no limiter if it goes off the clock and keeps going.

just buy one of those conversion kits for 20 quid that jump the speed signal off the ecu and make your existing clocks in mph, and limit the car to 210mph, job done

I just removed the limiter from your old MX5 - it took me two years before I was "reminded" it was there, shortly after fitting the turbo.
I'm not sure the bodywork is up to doing that sort of speed any more, I had some bits fall off doing 70 yesterday...

mine goes off the clock at 180... seems to get to around 200 before the limiter kicks in.

Dont go off your speedo especially at that speed for an accurate reading
