If water gets into it then it will rust the cast casing and the bronze insert will foul, you can normaly take them apart and give them a light clean and they are as good as new.

sometimes the clutch dampner leaks, i would fully remove it.

The braided line only replaces the short bit of rubber from the dampner to the slave.. if you want to remove the rest of the crap you must use some copper line.

Check the arm into the box is not bent also while your down there, as the pedal normal sticks if the stroke on the arm is too much.

Clarkey.

yeah thats correct.

Just check for free play in the arm also, when you remove the slave off the side of the box, just give it a wiggle, and see if it has lots of play. it will have a bit of play but no massivly.

But my money is on poor fluid or just needing a bleed up.

5.1 will take more heat... but will be more prone to catching water.. but saying that you would not keep the car long enought to see the difference between the two

just change it ever 6months or when it turns dark

dark fluid = water in it.
