cheap supra 2jzge turbo kits ?????

seen some dirt cheap turbo kits on ebay for the 2jzge engine, now i know cheap usually means nasty but i just wanted to know what people think of them or if anyone has bought 1 ????

dirt cheap
eBay Motors: JDM'S 93-97 LEXUS SC300 2JZGE T04 T4 TURBO KIT 94 95 96 (item 120245087360 end time Aug-07-08 19:39:03 PDT)

this one costs a bit more (and seller seems to be proud that the kit has been banned from supraforums which i dont really understand)
eBay Motors: Toyota Supra 2JZ-GTE 2JZ-GE Turbo kit LEXUS IS300 SC300 (item 120291566490 end time Aug-13-08 09:04:09 PDT)

The first one isnt much good, no fricking manifold! Also turbo has a HUGE hot side, bit too much in my eyes even for a supra.

2nd one seems better, but dont give great details.

Personally id hunt around and knock up the kit yourself, 1st kit seems a bit shit and not even complete, 2nd is too vague to say its good for not, and not mentally cheap, tho still cheap.

And cheap only means nasty, and you only get what you pay for, when you dont have the knowlege to realise what you really buying.

There are a few project threads on Club NA-T for the second one.

You'd probably have to make the downpipe fit, and possibly sort out a decent oil feed and drain.

Here's a third:

Might be less hassle to use a 2JZ-GTE in the first place.

How many people on Mk4 Supra who slag em off have ever REALLY tried them (people who arnt a tuner selling other stuff, someone whos given it to a tuner so sells other stuff, or a total retard) though?

In my experience most the people who slag stuff like this off have no real unbaist experience of it, just internet bollocks chitchat.

The "you get what you pay for" mugs.

Same as all the millions of folk that slag off cheapo ebay manifolds etc but dont seem to realise HKS and most other manifolds crack just as easy, etc etc

I dont know if that kits good or utter shite, but to be honest I trust it more than I do the words of most mugs on internet forums.

Its cheap Chinese made tat, people on the supraforum that have tried it have had problems with every aspect of the kits.
Turbos not lasting 5 min.
Wastegate hole on the manifold to small causing uncontrollable boost.
Parts of weld falling off the manifold and killing the turbo. (and possible engine)
The fuel and oil lines perish with in weeks. (serious fire hazard)
Gaskets fail with in weeks.
There is loads of threads over there with people that have tried doing it on the cheap and its ended up costing them more.
You can buy a quality phr single turbo street kit for under 2 grand these days and the quality is night and day imo.

If it's been banned from supra forums like the seller says then thats all you need.

If an entire community has had a problem with the product then you don't need our opinion, write it off and ask the supra forums which kits are worth the money as I'm sure they will be able to point you in the direction of a good buy

Plenty of people rocking the XS Power turbo kit in the states without a problem. Come to think of it, I haven't heard a single bad word from anyone who has actually used a kit, and I've been observing the supra scene for years

Make sure you order from the "REAL" XS Power, from what I understand, there were some people putting out fake XS Power fakes .

You'll right off the comments of what Club NA-T thinks of the kit (which is ALL positive) for the same reason that I'll right off the comments from the community that has 'banned' the product, because of sponsors. It's a well known fact that most people on forums are sheep and follow the crowd. Ask which cheap kit to go for on Club NA-T and they'll tell you the XS Power kit is fine - This just might have something to do with XS power being a MAJOR sponser to Club NA-T.

Ask the club in question what kit to buy, and I'll guarantee that they'll point you in the direction of a rather expensive kit sold by one of the forums sponsors .

depends on the pressure the turbo creates

2jzge turbo conversions are really popular, and seem to get good reliable power, i nearly was tempted to buy a jzx91 that went stupid cheap on ebay germany and turbo it. the guys that do that kit do an everything you need for 400bhp from a 1jz kit including oil cooler and lines and intercooler etc for very very cheap. if you got a decent second hand turbo cheap to replace the plastic one it would be a very cheap way of doing things

As gandyRX said, you seem to be limited to 7-8 psi, although there is an argument that it makes a good road car because the high compression ratio gives good bottom end power.

Contrary to popular belief, You don't need to touch the pistons, even to high at high boost pressure. The stock HG on 2JZ-GEs are paper thin, replace it which a thicker gasket (2mm/3mm) and you're good to go without even sneezing on the bottom end .
