MOT - Fog light wiring?

Ive got an MOT sorted for Friday,

Whilst down my local autofactors to buy a fog light the guy told me it had to be wired into the dipped been headlights only, so it goes off on full beam.

Doesnt make any sense to me but is it true?? or can i simply wire it up the side lights and have a switch that lights up when its on??

Cheers
Will

Mine just operates on its own iirc. Maybe with headlight feed. But def don't go off on full beam. Why would it need to?
Where did you go?

that complete bullsh*t.

mot regs state that the fog lamp can be operated when the lights are on, and that there must be a tell-tale (light on switch usually) that shows when the lamp is operated

wire it into the sidelights

I think that the rear does have to only operate when at least the side lights are on.

the front can be independant...

If your car has a fog light relay (maybe for the fronts) you could run it on that.
if your car has a relay for fog lights, the fog wont come on until the lights are on...

you could always take it to a friendly MOT centre...

Thats cool, ill just wire it up to the side lights, i didnt want to be running wire everywhere and trying to trace dipped beam headlight cables

Im getting a 'sympathetic' MOT, but cant take the piss not having a fog light
