m3 interior and general running questions

Hi
Not related to drifting but my guess is some of you lot have stripped interiors from m3's and maybe own a few daily drivers

Im looking at a nice one as a road car. e36 3.0 1993. It seems a good car, but it is a touch tatty inside and would like to replace bits. Is the door trim the same as a average e36 ? Its missing the bit that is around the door release handle on the drivers side. The lever is there but not the surround if that makes sense ?

Also, the panel under the sterring wheel looks like it has been hacked a little possibly for a handfree phone thing or something. Can i get a standard panel and screw it in from anything out of a e36 ?

And finaly, there is a momo steering wheel...which looks gash. I want a standard e36 wheel. Is there anything special ? Is there a airbag in there also and would that explain why after a few miles down the road a small symbol that looks like a sterring wheel starts to glow on the dash ?

Now,,,just a overall opinion wanted ? Il be moving from my s14a, i have had a few of them now and fancy maybe just having something to drive, not something to tune.
It has 100k just turned on the clock with a lot of history. Seems to drive ok just the above niggles but think i can smooth them out. What value would you put on it ? No rust and is straight, dakar yellow on genuine motorsports. Black electric leather seats with apparently special rare white stitching.

Thanks

right the trims you explain are all interchangable from any e36. door cards may be different between convertable and hard top and 4 door and two door. and also be warned there are many levels of trim spec and colours of trim so just find replacemant trim that matches. any steering wheel from e36 will fit but m3 should have m tech steering wheel and they do have airbag and will need conecting up again as probably disconnected or resistor put in wiring.

as for price they vary so much and conditions vary so muuch could look really good on outside but complete dog underneath and pricewish just check them on autotrader best bet to get a better idea.

Get it! M3's are amazing.

Funny how they all have around 100k on them! Try and verify it with mots etc if possible. I bought one with service history abd 89k on the clock. When I put it on ebay I got a message from a previous owner who had sold it 3 years earlier with 140k on it. Dead easy to do with a laptop and the right software.

John.

Ye i know they clock dead handy. But im waiting to see what the history says. Is there any way to verify ? would a HPI tell you ? i only done a cheap one that confirmed few digits of VIN and and insurance losses, which there were none against this car.

Also, does anyone know what a red circle with a line either side means -it appeared on the dash after a minute of driving or so
Thanks

Yeah, can do that mate, no problem. PM me your address.

As for the light, it sounds like the brake pad wear indicator (nothing to worry about), but can't really tell without seeing it.

this one ???

its the brake pads warning light, you either need new pads or it is fitted with aftermarket/non bmw pads without the sensor

doesn't matter as long as the pads are decent it wont affect braking, just disconnect the bulb if it bugs you

di you say the light was in red. if it is in amber then it is the brake pad warning sensor and if the pads are fine you can just fit the sensor wires you can buy seperatly from bmw very cheap. if the light is in red either your brake fluid is low or your handbrake is on slightly or the handbrake switch is playin up. as this will usually light up when handbrake engaged
