Looks fine Ian aside from all the exposed wires on the cyl1 loop, 12v and bracket, are you 100% confident none of the wires have touched anything and made it unhappy?? Obviously I can't see exactly which wires go to which cylinders in those photos, but either way it would spark and try to run.

I can't see any reason why that wouldn't work, incidentally the ignitor is earthed through the input plug so don't worry about that.

Possible ideas, faulty resistor pack, faulty coil, faulty coil is very unlikely though since all 3 would have to be gone and they're so simple they just don't go wrong!

Yeah i hadn't touched anything ben, they were covered up before, i just took of the insulation tape to see if there were any dodgy wires, one of them had fallen out so i was glad i checked it, but it still didn't work when i put it back in

someone on the skylineowners forum just told me

You can turn the crank angle sensor by hand and it fires!!!

Have you checked for spark at all cylinders? (or on 1, 2 and 3 anyway)

While the starter motor thing may be correct, I would be very surprised if that was your problem unless your battery is mullered and sounds like it's dying when you crank the engine. If you want to be certain about that, just stick some jump leads on so you're cranking the engine nice and fast.

willl try the jump leads thing at lunch, battery has been fully charged but its been off the car for 8months disconnected mostly as it died about 5 times from the alarm using its power

is cylinder 1 (as marked on the leads) the one at the front?
if so yes, i think he checked them all, most of them anyway

Ben: So can i just get this straight so i can rule it out -
for the Series 1 R33 it doesn't need any wires connecting to a 12V or ground source anywhere outside of this kit?

S1 R33 is exactly the same as R32 or any other essentially, 6 trigger wires and 12v are what really matter, which you have hooked up, and the Cyl1 loop wire to the 2 pin plug which needs to be retained.

i think the cyl1 loop wire is connected to the cy6 wire, does it matter as its going to the same place?

1 & 6 are paired so yeah it'll be connected to cyl 6 anyway

theres nothing that grounds it though is there? i've not connected any wires to a grounding point...

how come the other skylines need grounding but this doesn't?

All the pink trigger wires that go to the coils are grounds for the low amp side of things. The high amp side (via the HT lead and the spark plug) grounds via the engine block.

that explains my confusion then, looks like its setup properly then

must be a fault elsewhere then
