Rimage.

Ok, silly question, but why do people stretch tyres over wide rims? Everyone does it. Does it improve handling or is it done for looks?
Is there a set of suspension settings that works on just about everything? Hard or soft on the rear? hard or soft on the front? What about ride heights and anti-roll bars? Tyre pressures?
Ta.

with regards to tyre stretching, some do it for looks, some do it for when they want wider wheels and need to get them to sit under the arch easier/better.

I've done mine for a bit of both reasons, I definately couldnt have got my rear wheels under flared arches with 255 tyres on, so I went for 225's instead. Think they do look cool too personally :P You also tend to find narrower tyres are cheaper too!

Stretched tires on a rim is done for multiple reasons. Most of them have already been mentioned. (IE: Looks and clearance issues)

The other reason is performance during a high speed drift. Stretched tires are easier to break traction with due to the fact that there is less sidewall flex for the engine torque to overcome. Strectched tires are not required for drifting and several Forumal D drivers do not use stretched tires.

Concerning suspension settings, components, ride height, and tyre pressure, there are no particulars that will work for all cars and be suitable for every ones preferences. Setting up a car is entirely up to personal prefences.
