so the other day i decided to use a spare .com address i had and make a new site. I trawled the forums and saved the pictures of various tyre stretches that i could find and made a list.... I know tyre stretching isnt for everyone, so i'm not trying to spark off a debate, but hopefully it'll be useful to some and make all those pic requests a thing of the past. Very early days so any suggestions, fire away . If anyone has any pics to add, email them over to me (thebluebus@hotmail.com). Also if anyone can identify some of the tyre makes, let me know and i'll get it updated TyreStretch.com - Image Library
What you reckon the widest 15" rim I could stretch a 195/50 or 185/55/15 onto? I'll be buying some soon and don't want to be fucking myself up if I go too wide. Reckon 11j will work? Hmm I might have to stick to 10j
It's just that if I'm paying money for rims I don't want gay ass sizes but at the same time I don't want to be stuck with tyres that don't go on lol.
is it a bad thing to stretch tires? someone said that the tread should be at the outside of the rim, at each side of the wheel, so you have tread/grip all over the alloy?
Sorry for my lack of knowlage, but what type of innertube would you use, could someone please explain?
Innertube? Modern car tyres don't use innertubes. Sometimes people use innertubes to inflate them but generally an explosion of air inside the tyre works. It is common, easy, and free to spray a propellant such as CHEAP hairspray into the tyre, then light it and it normally pops onto the mounting beads. Common in the professional world to hold compressed air onto the valve to try and inflate it then use a tin of compressed air with a valve (commonly called a cheetah or bead blaster) to release a massive amount of air into it in a very short space of time. The more stretch, generally, the harder it is to fit tyres. It is rare for tyres to simply "not fit" though, with enough patience, equipment and knowledge most tyres can fit most rims.
Cool stuff. Been on several forums for years and tech mod on others and still I find info not found on other forums. Cheers for the video post.
