I got a old SIP 200A arc welder i use for heavy stuff and one of these Clarke 150TE (Turbo) MIG Welder - Machine Mart for everything else. If you have never welded before get your self a decent MIG.

| spl dori master | ![]() ARC welder for diffs and thick stuff, Mig for bodywork and thin stuff You can weld thin plate ect with arc welders but it can be difficult to get it to arc at first and has a tendancy to burn through rather than weld... Also watch out with cheap arc welders you will get about 5 minutes of use before they overheat and go onto thermal overload (takes about 30 minutes to cool down and re-set)...

No need to buy 2 crap ones... Just buy one good mig! Get down to a proper motor factor and check out what deals are going on.. I picked up a 185A Sealey for a reasonable price and I can weldonate anything I want with it. Also, if you are keen on using it a fair bit it makes allot of sense to get an air products account and get proper gas! Cougar 5 will give you much nicer welds than CO2... well worth the extra ££ |
