| T70 on RB20 - Too big?
I have a T70 on an RB20 and it is stupidly laggy. It doesn't come on full boost until just before 5K (no shit!). It's not useable and even when it does come on boost it isn't that quick? It's boosting to 0.8 bar but is running a very small intercooler (approx. 400 x 350 x 30). It has got a slight missfire at the moment but a set of coilpacks are going on tomorrow. So do I have to get a different turbo or are there things I can adjust / alter to make it any more responsive? Any help will be greatly appreciated |

Yeah you need to adjust the engine to a RB26DETT and it will be perfect. You have no chance in hell to make that thing any good mate, take the turbo off fast spec.

If you mean an XS Power T70, its got a 61mm inducer, basically a GT35 sized turbo, 600bhp or so, fucking massive for a 2litre engine, yes. At 0.8bar on an otherwise stock engine it wont be that quick, 0.8bar is not much power on a 2litre on stock head/cams be it a T25 or a T88, especially as an RB20 needs to be revved hard to be fast, they never one for low down power even when on boost.

| Gutted.XS Power T70 I believe. With a larger intercooler and the boost increased to 1 bar would I be making the situation better or worse as I am in no situation whatsoever to be buying another turbo!!! With regards to other turbos, what should I be looking to get? I would like something that will bolt onto the existing manifold / downpipe flanges that the T70 is using. Thanks again |

More boost will deffo help power. Put 1.5bar thru it with the extra fuel itd need too and it would fucking rip. Wont be any less laggy, but from 5 to 7.5 it will properly fly, and TBH most tuned RB20s have that very same powerband anyhow.

I had a T3/04b on mine till the start of this year, and it was woeful. Wouldn't spool till 4k, and when it did, it came on in one whack at 1.4bar and all you could do was point the car in a straight line and hope nothing pulled out. Really not a pleasant experience. I'm running one of Rising Suns rebuilt hybrid RB20 tubbies and it's absoloutely perfect for this engine. Well worth looking into. Should make about 350-360hp. |

As it is now it can only really be used for dragging!!! Pointless trying to drift, and would just be hard work / frustrating on a track! I'd definitely consider selling but what would the T70 be worth? |

I did have my doubts with running it at 1.5 bar! At the moment it's boosting at about 0.85 bar so I'm increasing it to 1.1 bar just for some extra punch. Also going to fit a larger front mount as the one currently on it is TINY!!! |
