Nissan Skyline R32 Gtr Brake Calipers

Can anyone tell me if these are the lightweight ali calipers or the heavier cast calipers?

Looking at a set on ebay and don't want to buy them unless they're the lighter ones

Also are the rear calipers considered a decent upgrade when compared to the s13 rear calipers?

Many thanks

Forgot to mention the calipers are off a 1991 model

that is what i have on my car, very good brake upgrade mate

Yes they are the lighter version.

Some people will claim they are the same as R33 GTST calipers but they are not.

Clarkey.

Ditto on all that.

What master cylinder are you using Clarkey? I've got a modified S14 mc at the mo but have a Z32 to fit as I think the balance is a bit iffy.

They use wider discs than the R33 GTST ones for starters. Other than that they are pretty similar. Same pistons, seals, brake nipples, disc diameter, and basic construction.

Make sure you get the mounting bolts with them, they appear to be a different thread pitch to S14 ones. If you don't then you need 1.25 pitch bolts. RX7 ones fit with a washer to space them out slightly so you don't start winding in the shank of the bolt.

Yeah and you'll need a hose kit for them too..

Steve, I'm using the stock 180sx master cylinder, it works very well actually the car was ABS i never checked what size it is, but the brakes are very sensitive but i run the posh crossed drilled Factory R32 GTR discs with Mintex 1144 pads front and rear.

On the Federal tyres i've not been able to go fast enough to cause them a problem.. and i drive fast!!

cheers for the added info guys. The calipers are being bid on as we speak. The plan is to fit them to the s13/14 hubs and fit them to the Capri with uprated discs and braided hoses for some decent stopping power. As for brake booster and M/C, I dont have anything lined up yet but was looking at the Skyline setup once again. Like Clarkey, I'll be running Mintex pads

i run those calipers with a r33 gtst mc and the braking power is really good, huge upgrade over standard, you with need the braided conversion lines tho.

When you say braided conversion lines, isn't it simply a case of getting the braided lines for the '91 Skyline GTR as that is the Brake booster and M/C setup I'll be using as well...or is there something I'm overlooking?
