Car stuttering at 2k ish

I'm not sure whether to worry about this or not as it comes and goes but the car (s14 standard engine apart from induction kit and exhaust) sometimes very badly stutters at around 2-3k which means theres practically no acceleration and it's hard to even pull away.

It's done it twice now, first time i had been driving it for about 5 minutes, it was a very hot day but i had only just stopped for traffic so it wasnt mega hot and it sounds like its running urm... burbly?? and drops to idle at 500 not 750.

Today it done it as soon as i started the car and went to pull away, it's not hot today but there is tonnes of rain, i managed to keep the car going for a little while and the problem seemed to go after about 5 minutes (so i guess when warm).

Any ideas?

Boost leak? Check all the hoses clamps etc and also the intercooler particularly if your still running the wing mount.

I'll check all that too but surely that'd be a constant problem if it was boost.

Boost leaks can be temperamental especially if its a split hard pipe or something which only leaks on boost. The symptoms you describe definetly suggest boost leak (SXOC mode LOL).

Might be worth checking plugs/coils because if it sounds like a scooby at times it might not be firing on all cylinders.

It does this way off boost though, but i'll be sure to check all pipes etc anyway.

Will also whip the plugs out, cheers!

Yea fuel pump could be on its way out.

Pull the AFM and give it a spray with some carb cleaner.

Check plugs, but money is on a boost leak.

Well i've checked all the pipes to the intercooler and cleaned the AFM so hopefully it wont happen again but i wont really know as it wasn't an ongoing problem lol

If it does it after its been sitting idling for a while (like traffic) it could be plugs fouling.

Steve - i've not got the equipment but might know somebody who does.

Moose - whats that? Edit: i done my homework... where's that then? Edit: haha do i have to take the manifold off to get to it and what should i look for?

Andy - i'll be getting the plugs out tomorrow to have a look but i would have thought it would be happening more often if it was the plugs.
