So i currently have a mx5 mk1 learning to drift
But I have been looking at a Lexus is200 estate to buy instead as I use my car as a daily as well.

    The mx5 is a 1.8 welded diff 130bhp
The is200 is a 2.0 lsd diff 150bhp which I would weld up

Has anyone been in both? Which is better to learn in?
The Lexus would be better for me daily as boot space and 5 seats but seems very unpowered for the exta weight

    Any info?

    Cheers

I've not driven either, but I know that people say the lexus is a bit too heavy for its power. It may be worth you looking at a Toyota Altezza? The same body but the RS200 'tezza has a better engine.

I was looking at the toyota with then beams engine last year but like rocking horse shit dude
I know what you mean that would be ideal it's just one has come up for sale local to me cheap if it was 200bhp I would grab it straight away but only 150bhp and a lot more weight compared to my go kart sized car at the moment

So i when a test drive a is200 estate today apart from the fact it was fucked lol..

I was nice inside but just felt gutless like really gutless I turned off the traction control but still didn't want to spin the wheels...

I honestly feel like my 1.8 mx5 has more power...

Well I just got to keep looking...i need 200bhp rwd

I was also stuck between an MX5 and an IS200 - pretty much same problem as you as I need it as a daily drifter so the IS200 would be nice for the space and seats. Haven't driven an IS but the MX5 I drove felt a lot more powerful than I expected.

You could always get an Is200 then supercharge it, totally transforms the car. Sounds awesome and can be done for around 1k
