Bye bye gearbox. Get a mildly uprated one, or be mister smooth like Bro Will if you get a serious setup. Hardcore clutches put extra strain on the box.

don't underestimate the standard clutch, they are £90 odd and fine for your 100hp.

What would you suggest then Mr Paz?
I wasnt meaning a proper comp spec one, one that will just fill the gap between road use, drift use and non gearbox destruction....

EDIT : Even for that kinda use Si?

I have to say, i used a stock clutch, never had any issues (the uprated Fensport one was fine too, but it was a blue print clutch probably off some other Toyota). After that i got an RPS Street Clutch Kit, was good, quite light, took the abuse of my worked engine. I broke one gearbox in the time i ran that clutch (lost 4th).

yep, i know it's not jonny hardcore like most on here, but i went to pretty much 1 practice day per month for the last 12 months my car was on the road, and my clutch is still like new. plus it's my daily drive, although i don't do hardly any miles. £100 genuine toyota exchange.

Couldnt give a bumcrap about being jonny hardcore Si, if something works it works. Think i'll give the standard clutch a try.

While we're here discussing clutchs and box's, i might be tempted to purchase a spair box if anyones got one? and yes, i will contact brother will about it too lol. unless he see's this thread.

Why does everyone call brother will, brother will? When i popped down to garagemac, jamie was calling him brother will, and then people at pod on the saturday were and i didnt think he could be everyones brother?

Don't some people fit the Ford Sierra box as it's stronger? Is it an easy swap?

It's because I used to be a Franciscan monk.

But if you want the ultimate 4AG clutch, that lasts a LOOOONG time (ie Many years of abuse) and never slips, then you need the Helix cerrametallic kit in your life.

I have a spare one here, good as new, with a brand new friction plate, so literally good as new! Cost new is £350, you can have mine for £210. I've never needed it as I still run the Helix I bought off of Cas SEVEN YEARS AGO. Haha...

If you want a testomonial on how great these are, ask Betty, Cas, cockney Al and JC as they have all rocked the Helix.

and that wont blow my box up either?

what is there in terms of uprated boxs in hachi's?

mine did a weird thing earlier, shifted from 3rd to 4th at about 5krpm, half throttle, the revs dipped as the clutch engaged then just climbed to about 7krpm without the car picking up speed?

No. I have been using mine for SEVEN YEARS on the same box. Just make sure you change the gearbox oil every year or so (80W90 or 75W90 GL-4, not GL-5 since GL-5 lubes have sulphur which destroys our synchros) and be sure to fit a new pilot bearing when you install the clutch. In fact, buy my clutch and I will get you a new pilot bearing for free.

As for uprated boxes, changing the gearbox on an AE86 is one step to losing its character... any uprated box will be heavier and will usually have unsuitable ratio's.

If it aint 4AG, T50 and 6.7" rear end, it is no longer an AE86. That's the whole point of them...
