On Tuesday the 20th February, myself and Bonbon started the long journey up to Newcastle Docks, to deliver the Driftworks S14 to it’s new owner..
With the completion of the S15 impending. We advertised the S14 for sale for two reasons. Number one was that the budget for the S15 build was somewhat lacking, and number two was that I really wanted the S14 to still be used properly by someone, and not shoved to the side when the S15 comes into play.
After nearly five hours in the Mazda Bongo with the S14 in tow, we met with the new owner Yngve Lindgren at the Docks. Our journey was long, but his was a little longer, as he had left snowy Norway for a few days to come and pick up his new toy.
I forget how many little changes were made to the S14 at times. So after we unloaded the car a good half an hour was spent showing him the ins and outs of all the switches etc. This is when the realisation that the car was about to leave started to set in……
The S14 has been an absolutely massive part of my life for the past five years, so this was going to be a little weird. It’s made me a lot of really good friends, allowed me to travel the world a little, and given me the opportunity to start a business based around something I love doing...
I’ve spent more hours working on that car than I care to add up. It’s had more different looks than a teenage girl, and has been through more set’s of tyres than ford's fleet cars.
So thanks are due to the car that’s done so much for me, I can only hope it’s as successful for Yngve in Norway..
Now I have to look to the future, and cross my fingers that the S15 will be even half the car that this was for me.
