BDC Gallery – Knockhill

So with the final of the 2011 British Drift Championship on the horizon, I thought it was about time I put up my gallery from Scotland’s Knockhill circuit. This weekend sees the BDC head slightly south of Knockhill for the Sunderland finale. If you haven’t already got your tickets I’d suggest you visit the BDC website as it’s sure to be a phenomenal end to a great season.

I’ll open the photos with Steve Moore. Possibly the single must underrated driver in the series, Steve was putting in hilariously good runs, with solid consistency. Me and 2010 JDM Allstars runner up Jon Calvert were speaking about this recently and both agreed he was the stand out driver for intensity and excitement.

Many other drivers were also attempting the extremely committed backwards entry. Few could pull it off with any consistency, but when they did, it was a sight to behold.

If you’re wondering why it might require some serious bottle to even consider going backwards, that’s why. A crest that drops away into nothing and then into a gentle left hander. You essentially come over the top of the hill blind. Not that this mattered once the drivers had their eyes in.

The various gravel traps had their fair share of victims, no doubt due to the many camber changes and the high speed nature of the track. This round also featured a “One wheel off track = Nil points,” which made for extremely tricky qualifying and battles. If you’re off the clip by a foot in the wrong direction, you score a zero. I felt this challenged the drivers accuracy and commitment a bit more than usual.

The results of the round can be seen below, with a full gallery below those.
