Giovanardi is by far the best BTCC driver I have ever seen, and judging by some of his saves, he would make a very good drifter, Polody is probably my favourite drifter as he is extremely skilled and drove 1000 ish miles each way to compete in the EDC
Julian Smith for UK...would like to see him drive this year at trax ...like back in the day kubo in JP
Yeah, rally drivers forever. Especially those that could tame a group B car. Theres a lot of very good drivers about so really it comes down to driving style and personality rather than on paper results for me. Heres a few from various disciplines, seeing as we are ignoring the drift world bit: Dick Johnson Katsuhiro Ueo Christian Rigollet Martin Shenke Manabu Orido Marc Fleury ...Etc. And from us lot I should mention JC and Plastic Paddy. Theres probably a bunch of other drivers I should add but I'm really hung over and don't think clearly at the best of times.
Favourite drifters have to be Manabu Orido and Ken Nomura- I like to watch them drive, entertain etc... As for rally/F1/whatever drivers, these are my favourite ones: Ari Vatanen, Colin McRae, fwd king Jean Ragnotti, Simon McKinley, Walter Rohrl, Gilles Villeneuve, Igor Drotar As there are many great drivers in the world it's hard to choose favourite ones, but all these have/had particular driving style which made them stand out..
Vatanen, McRae, Waldegard, Rohrl, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Kristensen, Schanke and Andretti to name a few properly talented drivers whether you like them or not. TBH, no body on the drift season would be even fit to wash half these boys shoes. I reckon that between Ireland and the UK, they're are probably only four / five drivers that are naturally talented and on a different level to everyone else. Amongst the others, you may have lads that are really good, but its not natural talent, its just shit loads of practice.
My favourite driver would have to be Mark Alcorn.. The things he can do with a Twincam are just sick!!! Im also a huge fan of Ari Vatanen Kris Meeke and Colin McRae..
Cas, I suspect you mean Schanche !! I was talking about him the other day with a fella who used to help work on his engines/cars alongside Mr Godfrey !! Complete mechanical cannibal apparently - you two would get on well !!!
in the uk i have always enjoyed watching bon, declan and hudson. all great drivers and different styles on youtube orido and saito and like or loath, rhys millen
Frenchie - 1 he can drive , 2 his mum makes a great cup of tea when you just come off a crappy overnight ferry
Tiff is cool for showboating, Stirling Moss for being the first person to really be a household name from British motorsport
amazing how few uk/irl drift drivers there are there!!! me...in no order.. julian smith..pushes the boundries, stays on track and never spins!! brett castle..mr consistantly smooth just like damon hill ov f1 mr luney for sheer balls and amazing speeds!! oh so so many and so many top drivers i class as FRIENDS GUYS YOU ALL ARE SHIT HOT AND ITS A PLEASURE TO BE PART OF IT UNDER DOGS RULE THO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Id agree with stig!! As far as drifters "drivers" Buff Mr Smith Luke Fink and Bon for just being a crazy mo fo!!
well one of my favorite rally drivers of all time is Michele Mouton, she is the only women in history ever to win a wrc rally and nearly won the 1982 season. YouTube - 1985 Pikes Peak Audi quattro S1 Mouton and walter rohrl because of this: YouTube - Walter Rohrl - Group B Audi Quattro i also like colin mcrea and tony pond cause he tamed that crazy little metro 6r4. drifters there are some many i like i can't name them all but the ones that stick to mind are ken nomura, bon bon, orido, luke fink and brett castle aka mister consistent lol
Hear hear on that one - UK Drift hasnt been the same since Mr Smith hung up his race suit. Bon back in the old E28's was a sight to behold too. For the JP guys I think Kazama takes some beating - so calm in the cockpit that if you couldnt see out the windscreen youd think he was parking in a supermarket or something.
