probably has been covered before but.....
im having trouble fitting my front mount intercooler on my s14a bought from japspeed. seems the pipes are to short i.e only just fitting into the plastic joiners and the pipe that joins from the inlet plenum onto the intercooler pipe is touching the the fan? surely this isnt correct? obv havent started the car or drove it like this but is realy annoying as i want to use the car!!!!!!!!!!
any help on this would be great, thought it was guna be a hour job tops!
    thanks luke

lol maybe the wrong pipe on the wrong place?
try switching them cause normally there shouldn't be a problem if you bought a kit just for a s14a

Yarp, washer bottle will have to go, as well as a new battery and drilling a hole in your battery tray lol :)

IIRC the joiner from the big tube >> plenum shouldnt fit anywhere else  I think its considerably larger in diameter than the rest of the IC pipework

    Pics will help :)

    This was mine

at work atm so cant take pics. fezcock this mit be a twatish thing but where your intercooler pipe joins the inlet u have the blue joiner just down from that on the right you have a black hose that comes out the plenum an joins into the pipework. thats the 1 that is rubbing on my fan? is it because im tyying to use the standard pipe thats pre-shaped?

that black pipe was the original standard item on my car, iirc its for the recirc - I think mine used to rest on the radiator cowl tbh - if it does, just twist the plenum pipe a little bit to clear it :)

the kit I had was second hand so I used a mish mash of original pipes and joiners with the IC kit bits :)

also am i correct in saying that the pipe work should be touching each other when inside the joiners?

not nessecarily, certainly not the pipe to the plenum

I bolted the core in place - then after a bit of trial and error put it all on so it fit properly then tightened everything to death

just make sure that theres enough pipe inside the silicone joiner that the jubilee clip sits correctly behind the ridge on the pipe to prevent it coming out - Common sens really mate

Hardest part I found was bolting the cooler up and drilling the battery tray hole lol :)

You can fit the washer bottle if you reshape it.

I heated mine up and squashed it. Be careful it doesn't touch the intercooler pipework though, it'll rub through.

Or you could make up some custom brackets and spin it to the side like so:

I have the Apex Type 1 which came with these brackets

Bit of a change of subject, but is the washer system an MOT requirement?

Unless you remove the windscreen :) no windscreen = no wipers or washers required
