final update for now... booked the vic check a few weeks ago and it was for today. been soooo busy this week i didnt get chance to look at the car till 11.30pm latnight, luckily after a bit of fucking around i realised the pin that holds the pedal to the master cylinder had dissapeared, whipped one off an sx pedal i had in stock and hey presto sorted just had to swap a couple of wheels and temporarily fix the front bumper, vic checks are like mot's, you can legally drive to them without tax the place was 20 miles away so i had great fun this morning driving there, obviously i kept to all speed limits and didnt spin the wheels at all usually the vic check take 10mins ish, after an hour and alot of phonecalls and umming and arring he came back with the pass sheet reason for it taking forever was due to some of the chassis numbers missing and obviously difffernt engine and different colour. happy as larry i steadily drove back to the garage, just got to wait for the logbook so i can tax it. next outing is norfolk arena on the 15th of this month, quite a few of us going the night before for a few beers then a day of fun
waay too much camber at the minute, none of the alignment is set up as i need some adjustable arms, rear arches have just got abit of a roll. when its setup properly i may have to higher it abit more or take off 5mm of spacers maybe
Yeah I was thinking it would have crazy camber. I'd run a bit less ET and get stuff squarer up back. Top job anyway, looks sweeeet.
theyre are probably et15 then, i havent actually looked just going on what i got told off the previous owner
been abit quiet with up dates due to varies things but hopefully all the little niggles will be sorted for the 2012 season.also a few changes... went to bdc's norfolk licensing day and managed to get a license along with the other slide motorsport boys, did it in adams skyline (legend for letting me), thats such a good car, plenty of lock and so much useable power(his skylines also in the garage geting a 'spruce' up ready for next season). got another set of grids so i dont have to use other shit wheels(still could do with another set) more lock more useable power low down finish most of the little jobs that need doing that have been neglected! been to a few more days in it but its had problems at most of them, heres a few pics of the latest days out... ^^ that was up at teeside, definalty the best day ive had in it so far, only issue i had was a missfire towards the end of the day which turned out to be some dodgy coilpacks ^^^ had a few people make it on computer games which was nice (pic doesnt work for some reason??) ^^ a day up at santa pod, thats me chasing adam in the skyline, only really went as we were delivering the kgb deals cefiro back to pod after a makeover, was fun for about an hour until the car gave up. not even sure what the issue is for sure at the minute, id lost motivation with it but gonna have to search it out and get grafting on it again. again at pod, this was with the new bc coilovers on thanks to apex performance, drove a million times better, was still slightly too soft so ive got a firmer set of springs to put on which should sort it and i'll leave it with this picture as it reminds me that however much i hate the god damn car it looks fooking awesome, well i think it does anyway roll on 2012!!
tink its badged up as a t3, basically the cheapest shit turbo off ebay by the looks, came with the engine so its been on there till funds allow a better one
Makes me want a 350z sooo bad! Have you had the car mapped at all Matt? Fueling checked? What you using for a boost controller?
the engine setup was supposedly mapped by the previous owner in the soarer,i didnt get it checked/properly mapped due to wanting to change most of the setup so it would of been wasted money.looking back maybe i should haha but the engine had seen a hard life so im not overly fussed if i have to get a fresh lump of rebuild this. its got a cheap external gate with what seems to be a .7 spring and the greddy e-01 controller running off the emanage blue piggyback ecu. my dilema is i want to change everything just about, different turbo, bigger injectors, different management and more than likely a new lump followed by a proper map by someone i can trust. could do with a decent wastegate aswel. problem is its all money and i aint loaded at the minute :/
I know the soarer the engine/bits come off... was rather "2fast2furious" lol! personally I would of been running at least a wide band AFR gauge or had it dyno'ed to check the fueling as the guy sounded a bit of a tool when I rung him asking about the car sure is all money I have just started wondering into the 1jz's... nothing like a sr where you can just shove a nistune in there for £200 or a power fc can be easily had for £400! lol Im planning on just being happy with the stock twins, ecu and 1bar of boost... then save up for a topmount kit haltec/link ecu with some supra 2jz injectors... or even rob a bank, import a supra 2jz over with some goodies, keep the running gear, break the rest and go balls out!
love this car. will be watching you guys with interest, im not hating on adam to much for getting a licence yet.
guy was alot of a tool, it really wasnt the bargain it seemed to be but ive got it now so shit happens ive been tempted to chuck on the standard twins(still am to be honest!), it would do me for now, im not sure if they'll fit tho at the minute due to the steering column. i just need to make it reliable!! cheers dude time will tell next year, our main aim is to have a good laugh and i gaurentee we will do that, but it'd be nice to mix it up abit and shock a few people. dont worry about hating adam, i hate him aswel
