Have the bonnet marked up ready for cutting tomorrow... How it should look... Said I'd resort to using the Limerick method of removing the spoiler... Debadged and spoiler off, just getting the last few shitty bits done before she goes away Sunday...
Cheers fella... Got the windscreen out this morning : Cut the outer skin and lined the vents up again : Matched the vents to the inner skin, chop, chop : Sorted : Boot door off so I can work on it while the car is away : Will also build the bonnet up while she is being caged, almost ready for transport tomorrow :
Thanks mate, should be alot better by March... Thanks very much... And she is gone, Bear collected her today and she is now sitting up in Mr. Stones. Next updates will be alot more exciting, rollcage baby
Dude, this is amazing! Can't wait to watch this progress, I've had 2 friends who skidded these and loved them except for the weight and it seems like you've got that sorted!
Not much now, just working on the bonnet and then building a ducktail spoiler... Should be cutting down on the weight even more when I get it back Next headache is lock with the double wishbone setup... Well since the car is gone I decided to do a bit on the bonnet, ground down the edges of the bonnet and under the vents so they sealer could bite into something : Used the usual pop rivets to hold them in place while the sealer set but looking good so far : The underneath just needs the lines tidied up a bit so they are even but all in all I'm happy enough... Time to make it look original using a sanding disc on the grinder : First coat used a 50/50 mix of filler and fibreglass, my poor garage, hate the stuff : Will try get the outer skin finished off tonight and get to work on the underneath sometime this week...
I just had a spare hour last night so I cut away the underneath of the bonnet, I left the bulk section at the front for strength but also I cut it on either side, bent it back and bonded it to the skin, it now allows the vents to work properly, I will tidy it all up once I get a chance as it is very rough atm...
try and make a jig for the engine mounts etc, will make it easier to sell them to folk who want to do this conversion, ie loads of folk !
Me and a friend were planning a similar build so interested to see how yours goes. Looking good so far.
Cheers fella... I won't be selling them mate... Ah just requires a bit of stupidity not balls Wide arches, vents, diffusers etc... Easy replicate fella... Thanks dude, hopefully be finished this year... Welcome Got a few phone pic's off the man himself, Mr. Stone, very happy with the car and parcel shelf removal, next up pedal box and hydro
Haven't done a whole pile recently, been busy with other shite, was bored one of the nights so I had an AE86 TRD spoiler lying around so went at it with an angle grinder, I reckon a bit of shaping and it should look mint
