Hi guys, Im looking at switching the R32 rear subframe and was going to go for the S13 subframe to ditch all the hicas and use my S13 adjustable arms. However im sure i've heard that the S14 subframe is wider and will give wider track and help reduce 'squat' however when i've looked at the DW R32, it says that the arms are longer, not the subframe its self is wider?, if its a case of the arms are longer, i could fit adjustable bottom arms and just bring the track out? (altho could be difficult to get it the same on both sides. I know i'll need offset spacers to fit the S14 subframe, and s14 camber arms, just wondering whether its really worth fitting the s14 frame while im at it? but its hard to tell whats internet BS, and what is an actual gain. Anyone have any experience of this? Ta
From experience, fitting an S14 subframe does alter how the car drives. An complete S14 rear end and a set of R33 front lower arms are some of the best modifications you can make to an S13/R32. If you have the time, i'd say do it. Here is an article i wrote on it last year. How to build a drift car
S14 and R33 fronts are the same length. I put S14 rack,rods and arms on mine. Not really touched the back on mine so I will read above and see if its worth doing.
I have fitted a S14 rear subframe to my R32 and although I have done very limited testing it feels good. Also you use your S13/R32 camber arms not S14 ones.
Thanks drift escort, can I use all my s13 arms? Think means I'll now need to get a 14 diff back plate, I shouldn't need solid mounts with an s13 diff tho
whats the advantage of a 14 subframe over 13 apart from wider track? and surely getting a wider rear track does have its negatives, ie if its wider than the front track.
if you already have the s13 stuff you can just roll under the car then fit that. if you were starting from scratch then yeh go down the s14 subframe route.
you dont need offset bushes to fit the s14 subframe on to a 32. Its prefectly fine fitting it with stock ones but slightly more difficult to do. its 20 wider and takes away the hicas completely. I noticed enough of a difference to warante getting it done on my 32

The main advantage of the s14/r33 subframe over the s13/r32 one is the rear lower arm is angled differently, causing the rear end to squat more under acceleration. Basically the car puts it's power down better.
Hey guys considering going with the s14 subframe into my r32 and getting solid mount bushes for it and swapping everything off my r32 subframe to it except replacing lower control arms with s14 parts shop max ones, as above some were saying possibl needed is offset subrame bushes? then someone else said didn't need these, as I'm going solid mount there will be no give to help slot in if needed, can any body shed any light on this for me please? Thanks!
