Nice to see a project that'll keep kids interested shame we didn't have a lot of this when i was younger. Could try some fundraising at car shows? Look forward to the progress mate
This is a great project for young lads and ladies Gives them Real life skills working on cars and working in a team, none of this pointless Stuff like dance and drama in schools today
Been looking at some steering wheels on ebay (OMP Corsica reps) but don't want to get one that bends has anyone used any of these and if so were they any good? Drifting Steering Wheel Black Suede/Spars Race Dished 350mm Deep Dish Drift E36 | eBay Motamec Rally Steering Wheel 350mm Deep Dish SUEDE - BLACK OMP SPARCO Fitting | eBay Or has anyone found any good similar ones ?
This is really really good stuff mate, I wish you the bestest of luck with it all, the Kids are lucky to have this oppertunity and support. Both wheels look ideal, a friend recently bought the top example and it looks like good quality build.
Drifting Steering Wheel Black Suede/Spars Race Dished 350mm Deep Dish Drift E36 | eBay I had one of these, excellent for the money, it wouldent bend, just flexed a little if i pushed real hard!
This is a superb idea, I wish you all the best with this. I've got no parts to donate! I'd get off my arse and do a sponsored fun run or something I guess. Love the fact the emphasis is on team work from build and beyond, when they get out there you could have a list of challenges / prizes, longest drift, biggest angle most spins etc..
this is awesome i can ask a few of my mates that have had beemers if they still have anything lying about that could be donated to a good cause and get some kids into a team building experience, hope you get the support from local bussnies's that you want
Quick update: First off I need to say a massive thank you to Mike ( Mike@TDSW ) for giving us a car full of spares and loads of good advice! Its very much appreciated! Also thank you to Jizzle and stevie-p for your advice on the steering wheel I have one on order now and thank you to everyone else for your kind comments!
This is such a great idea, totally jealous that there wasn't anything like this when I was younger, or even now! As previously said, real world knowledge and skills are being learned with this project and no doubt a love of cars.
It’s been a while without an update (we’ve been closed for Easter). We have had some more bits arrive We gave them a break from stripping sound deadening for their first solo project. They had to work out how to and fit the new steering wheel. We have also been working on sponsorship side (if you are reading this and would like to sponsor us please get in touch ). Our first effort will be to get the car to some local events, so far we have a couple of local fairs and Tesco generously have agreed to let us display the car there on a Saturday and collect donations. Also 2 Royal Welsh (Armoured Infantry) are going to help us transport the car so massive thanks to them. Today we are running a day session we are hoping to get coilovers fitted, and whatever else we have time for.
