ah the good old AFS (AnyFuckingSize) spanner haha, shit times when you have to use that bitch lol - - - Updated - - - ah the good old AFS (AnyFuckingSize) spanner haha, shit times when you have to use that bitch lol
A 11mm spanner will hammer onto a 7/16 nut ok and 14mm will hammer onto a 9/16 13mm is a baggy 1/2 so ok for not to tight bolts, or hammer the bolt head to increase its size if tight.
Or just get these. Nice and cheap. DRAPER 11PIECE COMB. SPANNER SET AF / IMPERIAL- 29546 | eBay That will pretty much cover everything. Everything at work is bloody American. I even think in imperial now... Useless.
We're back on track with the engine! Craigs currently fitting the sump and a few other parts to our brand new LS3 crate motor. We're still waiting on some headers, and a cam and valve springs, but if those don't arrive this week, we'll probably still have the engine in the bay for the final time before it's tested then all pulled apart again for paint. For those that missed it, our LS1 engine and a pretty comprehensive kit to fit it into a non GM car is for sale here: http://www.driftworks.com/forum/parts-sale-private-sales/201116-ls1-v8-engine-conversion.html
Sorry if you've said already Phil, I've probably missed it, but what prompted the decision to ditch off the ASCAR engine in favour of the LS3? Edit: Nevermind, just seen it in the link for the LS1. Is it just off the back of not having the TB's for the LS1 then?
Yeah, essentially it came down to having already bought thousands of pounds of throttle bodies in LS3 fitment ,because we had ordered and paid for a pair of Mast LS1 to LS3 port heads from Thunder Racing, and then (as you know) they ripped us off, and here we are.
Totally rubbish Phil, hope there's some recourse on the money somewhere down the line. Is the LS3 going to perform to a similar level then or was the ASCAR engine particularly well tuned?
Thats really cool, new engine in a drift car, wow must be a weird feeling, instead of starting with a 100k motor lol
Was having a close look over this whilst at DT recently. There isn't a single part of that shell that hasn't been worked in one way or another!!
Ooooooh! It's almost starting to become something that almost resembles a car! It's still very Frankenstein, but I love this first picture of all the little pieces starting to come together. The engine sitting pretty. The dummy block that's been used to mock up a lot of the build is now on the floor again, ready and waiting for the next project. Craig's currently working on the headers. The clearance around the engine mounts is tight, but we're happy we ordered the right headers considering it was done based on a picture on the internet. The right side is still a challenge to snake around the steering column, rack and the dry sump gubbins, but this as most things are, will be taken in the Dynotorque teams stride. Another view of the beautiful Jenvey throttle bodies (trumpets removed at the moment)
Very nice, what manifolds are they phil? Also what sort of money was the ls3, tempted to ditch my ls2!
jamie, they are just cheapo OBX headers, but they are quite well made nowadays, and you couldn't even buy the stainless for the money we paid for them. The engine was from PartsworldPerformance. Kierans posted the link above. It's in stock in the UK, and I think it costs about £5.5k.
