Project Touge | BACKWARDS ENTRY yO! Mike Gaynor at Round 2 of the British Drift Championship at Pembrey Circuit! ^ Click the link, Watch the video, Be amazed Tis quite cool that's all! More videos coming over the next few days.. May have some RAW stuff but first thing is 2 edits! Crad.
Is that sarcasm?! Didn't see much understeer, wheels straightened for a split second but never went past straight!
That is understeer, the front pushed on and it didn't stop understeering until it straightened out. Sorry if you don't understand that.
Dont be such a wet flannel Superclarkey, props to Mike for having enough balls to give it a go in competition. Same for Polo in Germany recently. People are so busy putting on a safe show for the kids at home on the internet that they dont do anything interesting.
Tracks insanely tight and he had to scrub speed off to not put a wheel off the track, many quality drifters where knocked out early from the smallest of mistakes, undoubtedly the best entry I saw all weekend that was actually pulled off and I'm not sure he even did a safe run, just went big everytime.
No problem with mike, he was having fun, its the hype of it that is annoy, as mike is proberly thinking the same, he was just fucking about stalling backwards while understeering isn't a true backwards entry. Its only cool if it doesn't slow you down and you don't go off line. I wouldn't have said a think but its nothing to hype up "WOW BACKWARD ENTRY OMG OMG OMG" lol
Its far from his biggest backwards entry but viewing that corner all of Saturday from further up the track gave me no idea on what it was like to drive, and then Sunday I was by the exit of the corner and it still didn't give me a true perspective of it, probably gets hype as that's honestly as good as the entries got all weekend.
Haha this wasn't the best one but yeah front washed out and I slowed down too much, as well as obviously being off-line from the apex. Still learning the car and had an awesome time so yeah it wasn't perfect but it was exciting. I wasn't settling for 45deg wand gayness that's for sure! Haha
The best one was against Hugo in battle, he must of been like what the fuck is this guy doing and then gabbed a fist full of wand. There were way to many boring, drag your ass round the hairpin entries.
Just my opinion but this is just a glorified spin out. The rest of the world compared to Japan is a little bit behind for obvious reasons but i would rather see less "backwards" and more speed around the corner. Like this
Thats all well and good pal, but have you driven the track that these guys were on at the weekend? or even attempted drifting it? that corner to get right is fucking hard to get round in a fashion that is fast or backwards. fair play mike.
It doesn't matter if i have been there or not, i am going off the footage im shown. You have never judged a run you see on FD or any other event you watch via video? As i said my opinion is just that. I prefer to see the hard fast chuck, not the (via my perception) over throw into spin, back on the gas shimmy!
It wasn't a glorified spin dude, I was doing similar entries throughout the rest of my 9 runs this weekend, so it was deliberate. I do agree though I ended up going too slow and it was far from ideal. I've got plenty of time to practice ahead of me anyway as I've only done about 20 laps of anywhere in this car ever so I'm fairly proud of what I've done and look forward to the future. But yeah as above, the hairpin is pretty damn tight even if you drove round it gripping, let alone drifting haha, so I wasn't "that" shit. I'll be sure to post up more backwards carnage after our practice at Teesside on Monday, so everybody can have a nosey and give me some feedback
Mike forget defending yourself it's good to see some fun being had, nothing better than seeing a car being chucked about. Maybe you should not try anything new in the future just to keep DW warriors happy. Thanks for entertaining people. MJG at this event Everyone else on this thread at this event
