It's sitting nicely now and the sounds are good.
There's another one local to me that's just been finished too, so much want for one of my own.

As soon as one the manifold makers decide to mass market an off the shelf solution I'm on it.
All the ones done over here either have shocking manifolds or 1-2ks worth of fab work in them.
Tbf I'm quite tempted just to pick up a left hooker and save some headaches. Don't mind skidding lhd.

Mike speak to Elite Developments they were looking at getting some cast iron ones made up. Alternatively you can have my Gunni monstrosity which he claims will work

would love to do a build like this!

what headgasket did you use in the end? im going to build a 328 engine to go in one of my cars thats supercharged. i only plan on using 10-12psi so not alot and ive been told to just go for a mls headgasket but not sure on the thickness to bring the ratio down...

I'm using a Cometic MLS Headgasket but i might change it for a decompression plate from Ferriday Engineering

How come? And go back to stock gasket?

Does it keep blowing rocker cover gaskets? Is there a breather problem?

*I sound like the Gestapo :wack:

Kam a few people including Greg have said that MLS isnt the best solution for a high compression engine. It does weep from the headgasket every now and then.

    What CR is it?
I don't see the difference between a MLS and a decompression plate to be honest.

Mike, manifold ready from shelf won't be any cheaper than my custom made one, check full boost and full race ones, they big money and they don't do bmw's, trust me for me to make one for 1200/1400 is pretty cheap considering is build with same material full race manifolds are, and is one off. it really is worth spend money to have a good results.

Yup, the production numbers for a £200 generic SR20DET manifold using half the material will be in the 100's.
No chance with something like this.

And they're junk that crack and break and warp after half an hour.

My cheap eBay (but better quality than most I'd seen) Skyline one was bent like a banana after very little use, all 3 flanges, head, turbo, and wastegate, had to be re-faced. Didn't have it long enough to crack, but that was next no doubt lol.

I was just reffering to what's needed to get costs down on something like that.

There's no real simple way of getting costs down. the quality and thickness of the metal used combined with Thomas's fabrication work were the only costs. Neither of these can be cut back on. Plus each set up is different, i have a big lock kit so turbo placement was restricted.

so it's m50b25 @ 10:1 CR? surely that is fine... What kind of turbo pressure are you running?

I have an m30b34 (10:1) @ 1bar of boost with no issues (MLS & ARP head studs)

for good 6 cylinder manifold stainless I spend around 300 pounds on material and this is with my discounts as well, good stuff cost money that's it, and if you think you can get a manifold from ebay new from 250 pounds witch do not even cover the costs of the good materials then you can't expect nothing good, is some time now that I dont build cars/engines with this crap, or good stuff or I make it or I'm not doing the job as is just asking for problems sooner or later.
