So I'm 21, driving a VW a year from the UK and want something RWD turbo that isn't more than insurance group 30 (at the most)

I'm not a volvo fan, but still want something I can live with daily that wont break down 30 times a year.

Got about 2K to play with for the car. not sure what to get at all! cant think of anything that ticks all the boxes :(

BMW? As much as I'm not a fan of them, if you want a car that won't cost you a small fortune try a 323/325/328?

At 21 I had an S14 insured for £800 all mods declared.
Completely down to your personal circumstances.

I've always had good fortune with my insurance. 2 years ago at 18 I had a 2002 Audi s3 fully comp for £1300, just had my renewal through for my E36 Drifter with all mods declared at 20 with 3yrs no claims £800. Modified S14 is about £100 more that's with loads of miles and work usage.

It seems to be luck of the draw, I swear by Admiral Multi car policies.

Insurance groups have absolutly no bareing whatsoever on what you pay for insurance because:

Its all down to personal circumstances!

These threads are popping up daily and they are a total waste of time as it matters sweet fuck all what others pay on what car

Same here, though my 'D' reg Granada wasn't a Cosworth it was just a bog standard 2ltr manual. I had it in 1999 and the insurance wasn't too horrendous from what I recall (21 years old at the time, zero no claims, living on the outskirts of Belfast) it was less than a grand fully comp.

I never drifted it (to be fair I didn't even know what drifting was back then) but it was easy enough to get the arse end out and I suspect you could pick up a tidy high miler these days for pennies and with some work it could be driftable' albeit a tad underpowered for the weight.

Appreciating that you're actually after a RWD turbo but I think that the insurance companies would bum the living shit out of you and once done, would bum the remaining shit out of your corpse just for good measure!

Have you considered the a 2.9ltr Scorpio or Vauxhall Omega V6, depending on model they'd probably be good for 130 brake'ish (maybe more, as I say depending on model?) and could be fun and driftable' if some of the excess clutter and weight was stripped out

I might get slated for suggesting these ^^^^ but my old Granada was a friggin' lovely motor and was one of the few that I had next to no issues with. In fact the only issue I ever had with it was when a yellow plastic piece broke off the clutch pedal, it was a 5 minute fix and from then on it didn't miss a beat, and that was at 140,000 miles

When i was 21 i got my s15 all mods declared for £800 a year full comp. Now im 23 ive wrote the car off built it back up with more mods, have one years no claims and only pay £600 full comp. Insurance makes no sense so just get some quotes and see what happens

If you speak to the correct companies you may be surprised.

My first car was a 250bhp turbo, wasn't cheap to insure but it was exactly the same as the zetec s fiesta I had originally bought.

With a 6 month old licence I Insured a 290hp pulsar for £1200 on an import policy with graham Sykes.

At 21 I insured an extensively modified 1967 MK2 cooper, 16v conversion, all sorts all declared for £600 through Adrian flux.

I would love a 32 GTR but know insurance will be troublesome, think I may have to give Adrian flux, sky and graham Sykes a call on Monday.

With the money you have you could get a MX5, BMW (E46's seem to have become really affordable now).

    Get an E36

They are better than people make out, and you can do LOADS to them!

Turbo cars aren't anywhere near as reliable as n/a cars, I wouldn't daily my old S14 again
